Chaperter Six, Dillons Mind

Dillon's POV Did I try too hard, I know I do that sometimes. Mr. Harding has like a million interviews set up this week for a new assistant, I guess I wasn't a good fit, or he would have given me the position permanently. I only worked for him for 2 weeks but I learned how he liked everything really fast and not to disturb him, was it cause I let Ashton, his best friend in his office when he wasn't there? who knows, I don't have the guts to ask him. Maybe one of the main receptionists wouldn't know. Walking up to Staci who has on her head set and is wearing a light pink blouse with red tulip looking flowers on it and a pair of white slacks, her phone seems to be quiet right now so I guess it's a good time to talk to her. "Hey staci, how's your day going?" I ask, being polite before I inquire about my question. "Hey Dillon, it's pretty good and yourself?" Staci replies. "Could be better considering I'll probably be out of a job soon." I say, a little down. "Oh, that's right, Mr. Harding is interviewing for a new assistant, I'm sorry, that's a bummer. If only you were a female, you might have had a chance." She informs me. "Oh, is that why? I didn't realize he preferred a female assistant." I say "Oh yeah, he loves a pretty face to greet him every day!" "Ahh, it seems a bit pretentious." I say without thinking. "Well, you didn't hear this from me, but he often sleeps with his assistants." She gossips. "Staci, that's a pretty big claim. How would you know that?" I ask. "Why do you think he needs a new assistant?" She answers with an intriguing question. "So was she fired, or did she quit?" I ask "She was let go with a huge pay out of her contract, and I don't mean her work contract because those don't get paid out!" She says with wide leary eyes. "Well, this has been enough gossip for this guy to last a lifetime. I'll let you get that, " I say right before the phone rings. "How did you?" she asks as I walk away. That's a little trick I learned to do in an office setting. There's a light on office phones that comes on before it rings. Most people don't know or pay attention to it. I make it a priority to know things like that to be able to impress. Sitting at my desk, there are several candidates sitting on the rounded dark blue sofa, all females. I guess the cats out of the bag and Staci was right he does prefer or more like insists on having a female assistant, I intercom Mr. Harding letting him know his interviews are here, and he says to send them in one at a time. "Mr. Harding will see you now." I say, pointing to the first woman with blonde hair and blue eyes and peach colored skin, who's closest to the door. I don't see a reason for me to learn their names. Obviously, I'm not gonna be around. "Thanks," She says as she passes. I turn back to my desk, waiting for her to exit so I can send the next woman in, and yes, they're women. I don't think any of them are under 22. The first woman exits, and I send the next ones in repeating til they're all gone, some exit looking disappointed, and some exit looking irritated and a couple with no expression at all, those make me curious, but oh well. The last woman arrives, and although late, she looks absolutely stunning in a navy blue pencil skirt that's made of satin, high heels that are longer than my you know what and a beautiful white blouse with a rose stoned collar bone necklace, she surely has the job the second he sees her. I send her in and wait...
