When she awoke, her bed was empty. She would slip in and out of consciousness, she would eat when she noticed the tray of food, then she would sleep again. In the evenings, he would slip in behind her and just hold her while she cried. They never spoke and he always left before she stirred the next morning.
This went on for a week when one evening he finally spoke.
“Beatrice” he whispered.
“Alexander” she whispered back.
“The pack wants to see you. They want to meet you.”
“Why…”
“They want to meet their Luna.”
“I’m not their Luna. That title is reserved for your mate. You’ve made it abundantly clear that you do not want me as a mate. So, I will not be meeting anyone.” She had hissed back.
“It’s not your choice.”
Bea pulled away from him and looked into his eyes. “What do you want from me, Alexander? Why are you here, in my bed? Night after night, you come into my bed and hold me.”
A look of pain crossed Alexander’s face before anger took over. Who does this b***h think she is…
“I’m the Alpha, I can do what I want. Why did you even come all this way if you won’t cooperate.”
Her nostrils flared angrily. “Fine. If you recognize me as your mate and not just some weapon that you can wield.”
“Is that what you want?” he whispered, moving towards her.
She held strong, not breaking eye contact. He moved closer and pushed her into the pillows, moving his legs over her, pinning her to her bed.
“Is that what you want, little wolf.”
Her breath hitched but she didn’t respond, continuing to look at him harshly. His eyes darkened as he dipped his head, grazing his lips against hers then bringing them to her ears. “You want to be my mate.” He all but purred.
He brought his lips over her neck, licking a trail down, grazing her skin with his canines. He licked the crook of her neck and brought his teeth down, nipping lightly and suckling on her skin. He could feel her breath quicken and her body soften against his. Goosebumps erupted on her skin as an incessant tingle spread across her body. A moan escaped her lips.
Alexander brought a hand to her throat and gripped her, running his hand in through her hair. He tilted her head back and brought himself up to face her again. His eyes stared into hers intently.
“Breakfast is at 8.”
He moved off of her and headed to the door.
“Alexander.”
He paused.
“I also want revenge. For my father.”
He nodded and left the room.
---
The sun shone brightly through the windows, but Bea was already awake. Had been awake for a few hours. More images had plagued her sleep.
There was a soft knock on her door and some omegas walked in.
“Good morning Luna” they greeted cheerfully.
One laid a red dress on her bed and placed a pair of shoes on the floor. “From the Alpha, miss.”
She nodded.
A rustling caught her attention and she turned to see the other omega gathering her bags. “Wait where are you taking those?”
“Oh, into the Alpha’s, well, your room, miss.”
Bea jumped out of the bed, taking a moment to steady herself, before running after the omega. She caught up as the omega knocked on the door at the end of the hall. “Wait stop! Where are you going!”
The door swung open and Alexander stood on the other side dressed in a white dress shirt and charcoal pants. His hair was slicked back, and his stubble was gone. He gestured for both of them to enter and the omega walked into the walk-in wardrobe with her bags. Bea entered and stood in the middle of the room.
This room was much larger than hers. The king-sized bed stood to one side and was covered in luxurious black sheets. A high-backed armchair was placed in the corner and a large stack of books took over the small table sitting next to it. There was a small fireplace across the bed and a large, soft rug on the ground.
The omega came out from the closet, bowed to the pair, and walked back out.
There was a moment of silence and Bea broke it – “What’s going on?”
Alexander smirked. “You said you wanted to be my mate. And as my mate and my Luna, it will raise questions if you’re not sleeping in my bed.”
Bea blinked and swallowed. A moment passed, two. “What about my other request. Will you help me?”
“Yes.”
---
The other omega had returned with the dress and the shoes and Bea directed them to the adjoining bathroom.
She fidgeted with her hair and eventually decided to just let it flow down over her chest. The red dress was plain but slid over her figure like silk. The material hugged her waist and gently flowed over her hips ending at her ankles. Buttons began at her sternum, ending at her belly button. The sleeves were made out of soft silk and they reached her elbows; a slit along the arm allowed them to flow freely around her. The red seemed to shine in the light. Satisfied, she stepped out of the bathroom.
Alexander was sitting in the chair with his arms on either side of him. She stood still in the doorway, allowing him to look over her for a moment before sitting on the low bench at the end of the bed to put on her oxfords. He moved, causing her to pause. She looked up and he was on his knees, hands on her shoes, tying her laces. He took a foot in his hand and slowly raised her leg, placing a trail of soft kisses along her calf, up to her knee.
Bea leaned back, gripping the edge of the bed as he made his journey north. When he reached her knee, he raised himself up and over her. He traced a finger over her collarbones and long the round neckline of her dress, lingering on her sternum before bringing his hand around her neck. As the knot in her stomach tightened, he brought his face closer to her, she held his eyes, waiting. Her wolf howled in excitement in her head.
“I can smell you little wolf.”
He stroked her neck, watching her throat move as she breathed. “Here”.
He let her neck go and offered his hand. Gingerly, she accepted and he leads her to the wardrobe. He slid a drawer open revealing a collection of beautiful gold pieces. Taking a moment to make his selection, he took out a delicate gold chain with a crescent moon pendant. He gestured for her to hold her hair as he clipped it on, placing a kiss on her neck as he took her wrist to release her hair.
“Now you’re ready.”
---
The dining room was full, and the crowd had spilled out onto the veranda. This wasn’t the full pack, just ranked members and senior members of each family. Matthias and Jasper chatted to some Elders while omegas passed around platters of breakfast pastries.
The chatter died down when Alexander entered. His arm was possessively wrapped around Bea’s waist. She was still unsteady on her feet, but he supported her, making sure that she leaned against him for support.
There was a small smile on his face as he gazed over the pack. “Good morning pack.”
“Good morning Alpha.” They replied, almost in unison.
“Today I formally introduce to you Beatrice Rhodes, from the Crescent Moon Pack. Your Luna.”
There was a moment of silence and the room erupted into applause.
“Finally!”
Bea was taken aback by the reception but slowly allowed herself to smile. I can do this, she thought. If this means that I get my revenge, I can play the part.
She took a deep breath and looked towards Alexander, realizing he was already staring down at her. He smirked and brought his lips down to hers, searing her lips with a passionate kiss while the crowd hooted. Bea felt a blush spread from her chest up to her cheeks. When they broke apart, she stared into his eyes. There was a moment of tenderness, but it was quickly replaced, again, with cool indifference.
Breakfast continued smoothly. Bea found herself being passed around the crowd and introduced to so many people she thought her head would begin spinning. Matthias and Jasper grinned at her from the corner and waved. She smiled and moved towards them but was grabbed by a petite, grey figure.
“You look beautiful my dear,” Willow said as she held Bea in a warm hug.
She pulled away and looked closely at Bea’s face, frowning. “Oh Bea, don’t worry about Alexander. He’ll come around. He will accept you you’ll see. In the meantime, you need to build your strength.”
Bea chewed on her bottom lip and nodded, not trusting her own voice.
She eventually made her way to Matthias and Jasper and she smiled at them.
“Hi”
“Hey Bea” Jasper responded with his mouth full of muffin.
“Don’t talk with your mouth full,” Matthias yelled and thumped his friend on the back. Jasper choked and Bea giggled.
“It’s good to see you smiling Bea,” Matthias said and offered her a muffin.
She shook her head and continued “Thank you for being so nice to me when I first got here. I’m still adjusting but it’s getting better.”
“Aww wolfie,” Jasper pulled her into a tight hug “now we just got to work on your appetite. And maybe get you into training hey? I heard you were a feisty warrior in your pack.”
Bea laughed into his chest and nodded. “Wolfie? Really?”
Bea lifted her face from Jasper’s chest and looked at Matthias “You should start training with us soon. I’d love to see you in action. If you can handle some bears you can handle some Lycans.”
There was a soft growl behind them, and Bea was roughly pulled from Jaspers embrace. Alexander shot Jasper a glare and tightened his grip around Bea’s waist. “Training?” he asked the pair.
Matthias nodded. “Bea was a warrior. She was meant to lead the Crescent Moon Warriors when Alpha Rhodes retired. Some training would do her well.”
His grip tightened and he looked down at her “If you’re a good girl…”
Bea glared at him as Jasper hooted.
---
Alexander looked out the window from his office and frowned as he watched Bea laugh while walking around the grounds with Jasper and Matthias. Her curls bounced as she jogged to catch up to the Lycans with much longer strides. He had gripped the window frame tightly as he watched her sway for a moment before being caught by Matthias.
She was so beautiful when she smiled. It was like her joy brightened the surroundings and brought lightness. For a moment, a vision of another laughing brunette crossed his mind. He saw her chase after Matthias and Jasper, her deep blue dress floating around her. He heard that familiar laughter ring out and he sighed. Shaking the vision away from his head his eyes focused on brunette in the red, now with her hand tucked into the crook of Matthias’ elbow.
Alex, go to her
No
His wolf whined in his head. Come on Alex, she’s our mate. We need her.
No
Love her, Alex.
No
Alex –
The phone in his office rang, breaking his conversation. He turned away from the window to answer the phone.
Dark Moon pack owned several businesses spread across Europe and they employed wolves and humans alike. While it brought wealth into the pack and allowed them to prosper it also provided a large network of contacts that could be called upon when needed.
He continued to look out the window at the trio, ignoring the voice that rambled on over the receiver.
