Chapter 4

1183 Words
Isabella bit her lip, her heart pounding. Was her father still living? She had always been her parents' errant child. She was so enraged by her father's attempt to marry her to Lucas that she stopped speaking to him. When Ethan said that Isabella's parents had died as a result of her decision, it broke her heart. "How is Mom doing?" "She arrived at work early," Hannah said, eyebrows raising. Isabella was aware that Mrs. Martinez consistently left the house first. Even though she was acting as though she was someone else and genuinely cared about her parents, she was still talking as though she had already run downstairs to meet Ethan. The maid rolled her eyes, saying, "No need to pretend miss," but Isabella was blind to it. Joy filled Isabella Martinez's heart. It was exciting news. She was determined to get married to Lucas Johnson again, even though she had recently realised she had travelled back in time by three years. She wanted so badly to at least glimpse hir right now, but she had to cool down and use some common sense because a villain was waiting downstairs. "Rnk you, I'll see Dad first." She was excited even though she already knew what her dad would say. The maid was taken aback. Isabella Martinez was the only member of the Martinez family that liked Ethan Anderson, and she had always given him preference over the other members. She shrugged and turned to leave. When Isabella looked in the mirror, she saw that she was awful and exhausted. She recalled how, at his birthday celebration, Ethan had urged her to drink as much as she pleased. She was so drunk that she passed asleep and didn't know how she got into her bed. In her previous life, she had been disappointed when she awoke and couldn't find him; now, she knew exactly where he had to be. "Horrible," she thought cynically. She took a fast shower, dressed as eagerly as ever for work, and after applying a little makeup, hurried to her father's room. "Dad, how are things going for you?" With a worried expression on her face, Isabella took a seat at the edge of her father's bed and placed her fingertips to his forehead to take his temperature. Her father, Reginald, furrowed his brows. Since the maid had previously informed him that Ethan was downstairs, he did not think Isabella would visit him. He wanted to preserve it that way, whatever had to have happened for Isabella to spare him even a smile. His daughter alone displayed animosity towards him when he misled her into signing the marriage certificate and sent her to Lucas's room thereafter. She later regretted naively believing him when he claimed to have a surprise for her, but she had to sign a paper in order to see it. For the aforementioned surprise, he blindfolded her. When she removed the blindfold to sign the document, she was faced with complete darkness. Lucas was resting on the bed when the lights were turned on, surprising her by waking her up with their brilliance. At that point, chaos broke out. "I heard you had too much to drink last night, Pumpkin." His voice was filled with worry, and Isabella felt remorse. D "I promise to behave next time, I'm sorry, dad." "You apologised?" Reginald started perspiring in the air conditioning room as though his fever had vanished and he had recovered instantly. "Father, are you feeling well?" Isabella said, her brows furrowing in concern. With her showing him this level of concern, Reginald was forced to act egotistically. Not very excellent. The doctor said I should be good, but I had to call Lucas to get some paperwork approved for Ethan at work. I sent them to his email and thought you would pick up some tips from him as well. Do not misunderstand; I am aware of Ethan's ability, but Lucas is more knowledgeable. No need to be so simple, Dad. Lucas and I will meet at his workplace. Isabella recognised her father's look of shock. She'd called Lucas names and turned down this chance in her previous existence. Isabella took her father's threat to disown her as the only option. Isabella had been avoiding Reginald since them, which was not his aim. "Ultimately, she discovered the hard way that she was nothing more than Ethan's instrument to ruin Lucas's company, and she had to pay the price for the lesson with both of her parents' lives. Her sole goal now was to preserve everything. Isabella grinned and said, 'I will get Doctor Sanders to check on you whilst I'm at it', as she adjusted the air conditioner because her father was perspiring profusely like a fish out of water. Since Doctor Sanders was Lucas's family physician, her father had suffered another shock. Although Isabella had previously only had faith in Doctor Baker, she now realised that he was a complete jerk and would have to deal with him as well. "Doctor Sanders?" asking. "You always said he was the best," Isabella grinned. Dad, I'll see you later." She left after giving him a cheek kiss. She was worried that her father would become suspicious if she couldn't control her tears. "I'm so glad to see that Isabella is doing well." Ethan ran to her and wrapped his arms around her."Isabella endured being in the embrace of a turncoat while grinding her teeth with disdain. She was so thrilled the last time she was in his arms, but right now all she feels is revulsion and the wish to go."Toe tight," she replied, stepping back and then smiling. I'm feeling much better, but I have to head to the office. That's the main reason I'm here. While he left me in control, your father also made the scumbag examine everything I asked for. Could you imagine that before I can do anything, I had to email him everything and wait for his approval?" Ethan scowled in displeasure at his unremarkable face, which first gave Isabella the impression that he was the most attractive. She pondered whether her eyesight was blurry at the time. A sour smile replaced Isabella's carefully manicured one. Since he had already talked to her about making her drink excessively at his birthday celebration, Ethan was not present to see how she was doing. Isabella quickly came up with a decent e cuse because she was so excited to see Lucas right now. "Now that Father is not feeling well, it is not the appropriate time to call attention to his errors. I'll go teach Lucas a lesson; I'll tell you what. What is the sound of that? She put on a beautiful front, and Ethan grinned and said, "That's why I love you." After feeling as though she had escaped, Isabella was relieved to see Ethan saying, "Benjamin Wills is waiting in the car," as she approached the door. He'll drag you down to the mud." When Isabella realised that Benjamin, her driver and bodyguard, was actually Ethan's spy, her smile froze.
