Julian had gotten little sleep and had woken before anyone else. He looked around their camp, seeing the other members of the group still asleep. They had set up tents to use, but the men had all drifted off where they had been sitting around the fire. The she-wolf was stretched out with her back to the flames, snoring softly. The men had given her all the roast beef she wanted, and the full belly was helping the wolf sleep soundly. He quietly got to his feet, rummaged through his pack for his towel and shaving kit, and picked up a bucket to fetch water for their breakfast and coffee.
