--Addeline POV-- Confusion written like braille etched itself deeply into Luka's forehead and eyes. I inhaled deeply prepared for the consequences of the road I'd decided to travel. He stared at my and licked his bottom lip in nervousness.  "What do you mean mean what you are, I don't-" "I'm not human Luka." He lightly chuckled in response, moreso out of desperation to fill the void of silence than as if he actually found something funny.  "Of course you're human."  "Are you trying to convince me or yourself?" His back stiffened at my question, and he rose from the bed. Facing way from me, he tapped his fingers against the window pane.  "What are you..a vampire?" "Kinda" He whipped around and faced me. "What the hell does that mean?" I could smell a mixture of emotions one being anger brewing inside of him. "I'm not just one creature...I'm a lot of them combined to make a SUPER powerful one..it's kinda hard to explain." I knew I must have sounded insane, but for some reason he didn't flinch. I think that scared me more than if he would have just screamed at me. "I don't believe in that stuff." He said finally. "Human are the only species arrogant enough to think their the only one's on the planet." Luka blue eyes swam towards me, and I couldn't make out the emotions inside of them. He stared at me blankly.  "The dreams...the stuff we did" His face ashened. "I've read about that before...in my mythology class." He put his hand to his chin. "Demons who feed on your sleep." "Incubus..or in my case Succubus." Luka lost his balance and stumbled his head hitting the clock located on the wall.. I rose to meet meet him, but his eyes locked me in place. It was then I could see the emotion I couldn't place at first. Fear. Luka was afraid of me. I knew I shouldn't ask it, but I've always been a glutton for punishment.  "You're afraid of me." "WOULDN'T YOU BE IF YOU FOUND OUT MONSTERS EXIST! I MEAN HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO PROCESS THAT YOU'RE NOT ONLY REAL BUT YOU'RE NOT HUMAN!" Luka voice rang through both the room and me, his words like ice. "You think I'm a monster?" He didn't respond but his reaction said it all. It shouldn't have hurt, hell I should have expected it. I'd been seen that way most of my life, but in this moment right now, the way his eyes looked at me, I wanted to die. "You said you wanted me to be here when you woke up." My words stumbled as I tried to keep my composure though I was falling apart. Why did I think he could understand? Why did I think he would have been happy? "I..I need you to go." I felt vulnerable, exposed and I hated it. "What happened to never judging me without getting to know me." Luka winced. "Yeah well.." He mumbled without finishing his statement.  "I won't bother you anymore." He wouldn't look at me, those blue eyes which once held so much affection now tainted with disgust. It all was too much to bear. I vanished into the air hearing only a gasp from him as I disappeared.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Why won't you listen to me?" Miccoli teeth were clenched, his voice strained as he tried his hardest to keep his voice low. "If you told me that someone made you uncomfortable, I would believe you with no question asked, but it's like with her, you have rose colored glasses on!" He ran his hand through his head in frustration as Selene rolled her eye. "I am listening, I just think maybe you misinterpreted what she said." As they stood in his study, Miccoli felt is blood boil. "I don't care if  I misinterpreted it or not, I don't like the way she f*****g looks at me, the way she talks to me, and I don't like the way this whole deal is going. It feels wrong." Selene huffed outloud. Not this again. Miccoli had promised to support her through this merger and yet here he was making waves.  "Look I get that you're a s*x demon and everything but not everybody wants-" "THAT'S NOT WHAT THIS IS ABOUT AND YOU KNOW IT!" Selene pointed her finger at him sternly. "Then what's this about? I make some lead way on active changes around here and because they aren't your ideas it automatically wrong?" Miccoli slammed his large hand on the desk, cracking it slightly. "GODDAMMIT SELENE!" He was furious. Red aura permeated from his body, and his tail thumped hard on the ground. He loved his wife, but sometimes, she could be so bull headed.  "I-I'm sorry to interrupt but it's clear I've caused some unintentional issues between you two." Selene jumped as Melanie's voice traveled from the doorway. She had heard them. Selene glared at Miccoli and mind-linked him. How could you embarrass me like that? "Mr.Vincetti, I'm sorry if I've offended you in anyway, but I promise that was not my intention. I also want you to know that I've heard you. Trust needs to be established and so I would like to invite you and Selene down to the lab so that you can see first hand our development and it's intended purposes. I hope that this act of transparency will finally put your reservations to bed." Melanie smiled at Miccoli as he felt bile raise to his throat. To anyone else, she would be considered a beautiful woman, but it was something about the way her smile didn't reach her eyes, that bothered him. "We would be honored to come to your lab, Mel." Miccoli just about lost it at the sound of Selene giving her a nickname. He mind-linked Ramsey. Get this b***h out of my house before I slaughter her Within moments, Ramsey appeared. Melanie said her goodbyes to both and left the room. As she and Ramsey walked together out of the castle, a chill ran up his spine. He didn't like the way she smelled. There was something off about her, he noticed it the first time he saw her. "So you're the Incubus with the two wives." He didn't' answer, he wasn't interested in chatting. If Miccoli didn't trust her, neither did he. "Strong silent type I see. I'm just trying to make conversation. Besides, I've always liked my men a little more vocal...a little more brash and hot tempered." Ramsey side eyed her, catching the smirk that briefly played on her lips. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who she was referring to, and he didn't like it one bit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------                                                             --Melanie POV-- "Is it possible to be attracted to the very same thing that repulses you?" I pose the question to my secretary who stares at me wide eyed.  "I-I guess it's how slave owners were able to still sleep with their slaves even though they felt them beneath them." "Are you comparing me to a slave master?"  The young woman quickly shook her head back and forth panic written all over her face. I leaned back into my chair, and looked at her. "Good cause they don't have s**t on me." A deep laugh escaped my throat, which only got louder as she scurried from my office. After my visit to the Dark Realm, I found myself even more perplexed than before. I had a plan, a simple, straight forward plan, and yet, there was a wrench in it in the form of a huge, easily angered brute who could probably split me in half, and who I'd happily let. His reputation proceeded him. The valent warrior, whose intelligence was unmatched, making him easily the right choice for king.  The Incubus s*x god who drove countless women to the brink of insanity, only to pull them back and start the process over and over again. I'd read that he was kind, but stern, and getting him to trust wouldn't be easy. That his wife, was a far better target to pursue. That her desire to be accepted could be played on, and manipulated for my benefit. Still nothing in those notes prepared me for how attractive he was, no that I found first hand on my own. Thoughts of that sinful tongue of his playing between my thighs plagued me constantly since that day. I knew I couldn't have him, but that didn't mean I wouldn't have a little fun pretending I could. "We're ready for you Madam Chairman." The intercom rang out to me. I rose from my seat, gathered my papers and headed to the lab.  Tubes lined the specimen, his screams echoing through the large room. "Any improvement?" The tech shook his head excitedly. "Yes, you were right. He's much stronger and was just what we needed." I smiled. Everything was going to plan. "He will be pleased. Continue to run test and let me know any new development." The tech nodded his head before turning to his work. The air of the room shifted, and I quickly realized we weren't alone. Though the others couldn't see what lurked in the darkness, I knew he was there. "LEAVE EVERYONE!" The techs quickly gathered their items before leaving the lab. I turned to face the dark corner of the room. "To what do I owe this pleasure?" "Have you made lead way with the others?" His voice was deep, it's rumble pulling through me. "Yes..you were right. They are just what we needed. I'm sure I could get them all in here right now if-" "NO!" The room shook as his voice vibrated through the lab. "It must be in two months." 'I just don't understand why." "Are you questioning me?" A low growl escaped his lips and I shook my head quickly. "Of course not." That seemed to calm him. "Good...do what is asked of you and you will be rewarded." With that he was gone. I exhaled the breath that I didn't notice that I was holding. Play nice for two more months? I could do that. Plus, it would allow me to see Miccoli again, and that in itself was worth it all.
