SIXTEEN. I woke up in Gwen’s bed. I didn’t remember falling asleep, but that wasn’t unusual. The bed was empty but for me; Gwen must have gotten up before I woke. I started to move, but then I heard voices. It was a little difficult to make them out at first, but with a little concentration I realized it was Gwen and Adrian talking. Which only made sense. It was their house. What I should have done was get up out of bed and went downstairs. But I was lazy and I didn’t want to get up. So I eavesdropped. I wasn’t ashamed at that. I had other things to be ashamed of. “—it’s a good idea,” Adrian said. “I can f**k whoever I want! That’s part of the agreement. Or should I lose your key for a while?” “Don’t be like that.” “Don’t tell me who I can and can’t f**k!” “Two men on the same day.”
