Saoirse My entire body locks up. Like my lungs forget how to function and my heart does a triple somersault in my chest. Because standing there—by the damn corridor like she just witnessed a live crime scene—is Jennie. And the look on her face? Shocked. Confused. Borderline betrayed. Panic rushes through me like a tidal wave. “Jennie—” I gasp, but I don’t even let her speak. My instincts kick in. I grab her hand and drag her out the nearest exit like the walls are about to collapse. “Hey, hey, come on,” I say breathlessly, forcing a stupid laugh as we step out into the garden behind the pack house. My hands shake as I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear, like I can just fix everything with good posture and a pretty smile. She yanks her hand from mine. Her expression is unreadable
