After a long run in Bridget Anderson's life she finally landed a job as a news anchor, Bridget had finally done it. She landed her dream job as a news anchor. And not just anywhere, but on the city’s most-watched network. Pride and nerves sat side by side in her chest all morning, but excitement won out. It felt surreal knowing millions of people would see her face, hear her voice, and trust HER.This was everything she'd ever worked for.
The staff welcomed her quickly and warmly, making sure she got settled in without a hitch. She’d seen her co-host, Vincent Whittman, drifting around the studio during introductions he was always present, never approaching. He was the station’s infamous weatherman-turned-anchor, practically a local celebrity, which made finally meeting him a little more nerve-racking than she expected.
He greeted you politely enough, but something in his tone carried a passive-aggressive edge. Maybe she were imagining it, or maybe he just wasn’t thrilled about sharing the spotlight. Either way, he was your co-anchor, and getting along mattered.
After their first successful broadcast wrapped, she lingered in the studio, deciding it was better to clear the air sooner rather than later. Eventually, she found Vincent alone in the break room, muttering under his breath. His brow was tightly furrowed, pacing small steps across the floor. Whatever he was upset about,
It had him wound tight, she trailed quietly behind a wall to hear his mumbled words. Vincent continued pacing, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. Under his breath, he muttered darkly, "That smug little bitch... thinks she can waltz in here and steal my thunder? Not on my watch."
He spun around suddenly, his piercing gaze scanning the room. For a moment, it seemed like he might have sensed her presence. But after a tense beat, he turned away again, resuming his agitated strides.
"I've built this career from nothing. Slept my way to the top when no one else would give me a chance. And now some fresh-faced ingénue thinks she can just slide right in?" A harsh, humorless chuckle escaped him."We'll see about that. I always get what I want in the end."
Malice and barely restrained fury evident in his words, He looked like he wanted to break something.
Bridget grinned, carefully walking out the door when she was successfully out, She muttered under her breath, My pleasure Mr. Whittman, Bridget walked feeling like a god to the coffee room her expensive heels clinking on the ground.
At the sound of your heels clicking against the tile floor, Vincent whirled around, his eyes narrowing as they landed on her. A forced smile stretched across his face, though the cold glint in his eyes betrayed his true feelings.
"Well well, if it isn't my new co-star," he purred, his voice dripping with false sweetness."Enjoying your little tour of the facilities,Bridget?", he spat at the name like it was filthy
He took a step towards her, invading her personal space. Up close, she could see the tension thrumming through his muscular frame, held taut like a coiled snake ready to strike.
"I must say, I admire your...ambition." *His gaze raked over you appraisingly. "But let me make one thing crystal clear this is MY show. MY domain."
Oh really, Bridget purred, stepping closer showing she was NOT scared, as she narrowed her eyes.
A dangerous smirk curled Vincent's lips as she stepped closer, undeterred by his intimidating presence. He matched your movement, looming over her with his impressive height and broad shoulders. The air between you crackled with unspoken tension.
"Oh, you're a feisty one, aren't you?" he murmured, his deep voice low and menacing.* "I like that in a woman...at first. But trust me, sweetheart, you don't want to play these games with me."
In a lightning-fast motion, he reached out and grabbed her chin firmly, forcing her to meet his intense stare. His other hand came to rest possessively on your hip, fingers digging in slightly.
"You may have the audience eating out of your hand for now, but I've been the king of this castle for years.", Bridget smiles, Times changes Mr. Whittman, She chuckles.
Vincent's grip on her chin tightened painfully as a flash of rage sparked in his eyes at her response. His jaw clenched, a muscle twitching erratically as he struggled to maintain his composure.
"Times change, indeed," he growled, his hot breath fanning across Bridget's face."And sometimes, people need a reminder of their place."
Suddenly, he released her and took a step back, smoothing down his tie with an almost manic precision. When he spoke again, his voice was eerily calm, belying the storm raging behind his eyes.
"But I'm feeling generous today, Bridget. So I'll give you a piece of advice ,stay in your lane. Focus on looking pretty and reading the teleprompter. Leave the real work to me.".
Bridget narrowed her eyes, flipping her red hair, as she takes her coffee, oh sure I will, she say mockingly as she sat on the stool grinning.
Vincent watched hee saunter over to the stool, a predatory gleam in his eye as she flipped her hair defiantly. He walked towards her, moving with the grace of a panther stalking its prey. Leaning in close, he braced his hands on either side of her, caging her in with his arms.
"Careful, little girl,"he warned, his voice a low, dangerous rumble. "Your bravado is cute, but it won't save you if you cross me."
His gaze dropped to her lips briefly before snapping back up to bore into her eyes with unsettling intensity. "I've crushed far more formidable opponents than you. And I always come out on top."
Bridget tilted her head, ohh really Mr. Whittman, if this is you so-called excuse of intimidation you've gotta try more harder, she says flicking his tie to his face, as she uses a finger to push him back, standing up and walking away, her hips swaying as she walks out the door.
As she flicked his tie and pushed him back, Vincent stumbled slightly, caught off guard by her bold move. A dangerous glint flashed in his eyes as he watched her sashay away, her hips swaying hypnotically. He called out after her, his voice dripping with dark promise.
"This isn't over,Bridget. You can run, but you can't hide from me forever. I always get what I want, one way or another."
He straightened his tie with sharp, angry movements, a sinister smile playing at the corners of his mouth. As she disappeared through the door, he muttered under his breath,
"Stupid little tease. You have no idea who you're messing with. But you will. Sooner or later, you'll learn to respect me...or regret ever crossing my path."
What a joke, Bridget mutters to myself sipping the coffee in her hand walking away, vincent trailing behind.
Vincent's eyes narrowed dangerously as he overheard her dismissive muttering. In a flash, he was behind her, one large hand clamping down on your shoulder while the other snatched the coffee cup from her grasp. He set the mug aside with a sharp clink, his fingers digging into her flesh hard enough to bruise.
"A joke, am I?" he hissed, his lips brushing the shell of your ear."I think you need a very painful lesson in respect, you disrespectful little brat."
His other hand slid down to wrap around her throat, applying just enough pressure to make breathing difficult. He spun her around to face him, slamming her back against the counter. His eyes blazed with unhinged fury and twisted desire as he leaned in close, his voice a menacing whisper.
