17 UNEXPECTED DEVELOPMENTS Todd was sat at the piano when his aunt entered the room. And I was at home, lid up, ready. The first sign of violence and I was going in humming. Todd stopped playing as she stood behind him. I could see the fear in his eyes. If I waited any longer it could be too late. I started humming and a moment later I was standing behind his aunt. “No,” she said. “Don’t stop playing.” Todd started up again. It was some slushy old melody that didn’t seem right coming out of a beefcake like him. “Oh, I love this tune,” she said, placing her hands on his shoulders. I edged forward.
