That evening as I sat at the keyboard, I wondered if I hadn’t over-reacted, running out of the dining room like that. All I’d done was draw unwanted attention to the situation.
The line I was sticking to was that I’d had to get rid of the rhubarb and custard, and fast. No problem selling that one. After all, I wasn’t the first to fall as a result of that evil cocktail. Unfortunately, in hurtling out of the dining room, I had accidentally over-turned the chair on which I’d been sitting. And as eyes turned towards the commotion, they had not failed to notice that sitting opposite my hastily vacated and now over-turned chair, at the same table, was Lily Fielding.
