“I know you stab men who deserve it.”
“That is not enough for a marriage.”
“It is an excellent beginning.”
A soldier opened the ballroom doors.
The night beyond them glowed red and blue from distant emergency vehicles. Black SUVs waited in the circular drive.
Roman offered Valentina his hand again.
This time, she did not hesitate.
They entered the first vehicle together.
Alessio sat across from them while Roman’s soldiers filled the others.
As the convoy moved away from the Russo estate, Valentina looked back once.
The home where she had spent her entire life disappeared behind iron gates.
She felt nothing.
Alessio handed Roman a tablet showing a map of the tunnels.
“We lost contact with the thermal team,” he said.
Roman’s posture changed.
“When?”
“Two minutes ago.”
Valentina studied the map.
A red marker blinked beneath Warehouse Six.
Then it vanished.
The tablet screen turned black.
A moment later, a video appeared.
Elena was tied to a chair.
Luca stood behind her with one hand resting on her shoulder.
He smiled directly into the camera.
“You always were the clever one, Valentina.”
He lifted a detonator.
“But you were wrong about which warehouse I planned to burn.”
