"Good job soldiers for keeping the king's successor safe!" Said the skeleton with a different armor and sword as he turned out to be the leader of the skeleton army.
"Thanks! So can you tell me now how you can fight and talk?" Asked Carter, desperate for an answer.
The leader of the skeleton army started to talk as he introduced himself and explained what happened.
"I am Rashi, I was given the position of commander to lead the soldiers of Shumpak by Zudnir, our king. When we received the news about the Gods will, our king rebelled against the Gods. All of the other soldiers and commanders were taken by our king. While me and my soldiers were given the task to protect our kingdom. Our king put a curse on us that we can only be in peace once his will was done. All of us were wiped out by the Gods. We couldn't do anything to protect the civilians. Even though we were killed, we are still alive because of the king's curse. Since we are still alive it means that his will is not yet fulfilled, we waited for decades, centuries as we know that the king is still alive since the curse is not removed yet. After waiting for quite a long time the king talked to us telepathically and told us that his successor will be coming to the kingdom. This is the last will of the king so it's our duty to protect you and keep you safe as long as we can.”
"Aren’t y'all mad at the king for cursing you for a very long time?" Said Carter with a saddened expression.
"We aren’t mad at the king, we also want to avenge our kingdom and every other kingdom for what the Gods have done to us." Rashi said with a mighty face.
"Do you even feel pain even though you're dead?" Asked Carter as he was curious on how they felt.
"Yes we actually do, child. It is part of the curse." Said Rashi as he put his sword back at his sheath.
"What happens when you leave the kingdom?” Carter questioned, determined for an answer.
"Well, we will die but we don't want to leave the kingdom since it would be a disgrace on us if we don't fulfill the king's mighty will." Said Rashi, willing to defend his kingdom even for how long it needs to take.
"Come child, I will show you around the kingdom." Added Rashi.
They walked around the kingdom while Carter asked Rashi a lot of questions. While Rashi was walking with Carter, Carter couldn't stop thinking about the ancient artifacts that Zudnir told him to find.
"Hey! Is there any chance that you can show me the artifacts that Zudnir told me to find here?" Carter interrupts Rashi from talking.
"We actually don't know where the artifacts are but only you can find it since you are the king's successor." Said Rashi with a discouraged look from his face feeling helpless since he cannot help the king's successor.
"Oh no, they started making their move again. A viral disease has begun spreading on the ground." Said Rashi, able to see what's happening on the surface from his mind.
"How do you know?" Said Carter.
Rashi holds his head as he tries to show telepathically what's happening above.
"How did you do that? Can I go to the surface? I need to keep my grandma safe, she's all that I have." Said Carter worried about his grandma
Rashi gave Carter a pill as he told him how to use it.
"I will give you these two teleportation pills, you need to consume one and think of a place where to go. There might be a day or two before you reach your destination. Don't forget to come back as a child as you are the successor and the savior of everyone on this ground." Said Rashi to Carter.
"Don't worry, I'll just check my grandma and I will come back." Said Carter as he believes even more now that he is actually the successor of Zudnir.
The skeleton army saluted at him. Carter took one pill and swallowed it as he closed his eyes and thought of his house to go there. After he opened his eyes he suddenly saw his grandma crying as she looked at him.
