It was a holiday so there were no classes, the sun was high, the sky was blue, the morning breeze was warm. Carter woke up and couldn't stop himself from thinking about the note that he found yesterday. He suddenly remembered his dream and thought that the note might have something to do with his dream. "Was it all just a dream or a message? Grandma said that Zudnir betrayed the Gods in search of more power, in my dream a voice whispered through my ear and said that he is the one who defies the Gods and he also said that if I become his successor then he will grant me power!" Carter shouted loudly as he realized something. "Did Zudnir talk to me in my dream? Did he choose me to be his successor?" Carter curiously questioned everything. "If the note is somehow connected to my dream, it means that the lost kingdom can be found in the underground where life doesn’t exist!" He cried loudly. "Does a place without life exist? Does this actually have something to do with my dream? It doesn't make any sense!" He cried. As he questions everything he realized that his grandma might have some answers regarding his questions. He quickly rushed to his grandma in search of answers. “Grandma, I had a vision. Zudnir told me that he wants me to be his successor and he said that in return he will give me power!” Carter said to his grandma. “You shouldn’t stress yourself too much, young man, you're still a kid and not all dreams have meanings. Don’t stress yourself too much my grandson, it was probably just because you are thinking too much about it that’s why you think that Zudnir wants you to be his successor. How could Zudnir make you his successor if he already died from the star Zonshus?” Said his grandma concerned. Carter got sad because her grandma doesn’t believe him but he knew deep inside that his dream was a vision. “You don't have to believe me grandma but do you know any place where life does not exist?” Carter asked his grandma. “A place where life doesn’t exist? Hmm, sorry Carter but your grandma’s memory isn’t as sharp as before. I can't help you with that, my child.” His grandma said disappointedly. “It's ok grandma.” Carter replied. In search of answers he tried to search all the books in the nearest library in their place. After a while he found a book entitled “Is there a lifeless part of the earth?” “This might be the key on how Can I go to the lifeless land.” Carter said in his mind. While reading the books he found Evan looking for a book. “Hey Evan, what book are you looking for?” said Carter to Evan. “I was looking for books that can help me get high grades on the upcoming quizzes.” Evan said. “We're middle schoolers, don't take it too seriously, take it easy sometimes, it's the weekend don't stress yourself too much.” Carter advised. “I don't know dude, I don't want my grades to be low, if I don't take school seriously I might end up on a low paying job.” Evan answered. “Whatever you say Evan.” Said Carter. “What are you reading Carter?” asked Evan. “While I was going home after we played I found a note that I thought was connected to my dream. It feels like Zudnir chose me as his successor.” said Carter. “Did you really think that the story was real? Even if it was actually real according to your story Zudnir was burned in a star named Zonshus. How is that even possible?” said Evan to Carter. Carter was filled with motivation, He said. “You don't have to believe me Evan but I believe that there is actually some explanation about this, I just have to find it out.” As Carter read the book for a while he found that the page that contains the information where he can find the lifeless land is torn apart. Because of this Carter doesn't know where he can find the lifeless land but this time he knows that a lifeless land does actually exist… While he was walking home disappointed, as the air grew cold, the cloud was getting darker than before he suddenly heard someone whispering to him that it scared him because there were no people around him. “Carter it is me…” The unknown voice whispered. “Who are you? Show yourself and stop playing tricks with me!” He said as his adrenaline started to rush. “Don’t be scared Carter…” The unknown voice said softly. “Leave me alone, I don't know you!” Carter shouted while he was scared. Carter slapped and pinch himself as he thought that it was all his mind playing with him. He was scared so he ran as fast as he could to get to his house. “Did someone actually talk to me or was it just all in my mind?” he said in his mind while he doubts himself. He took some rest in his room and fell asleep. “Dinners ready child!” His grandma shouted. “Coming grandma!” Carter replied. He ate with his grandma for a while. He wanted to tell his grandma what happened before but he doubted that his grandma would believe a thing that he said so he decided to keep it to himself. Carter only had his grandma as he grew. Carter and his grandma were left at home, his mother and father had to go on a trip to a different country, and the plane where his mother and father were riding crashed in the sea. Carter cried so much when his grandma informed him about what happened. “I miss mom and dad grandma, I hope that I can eat with them again.” Said Carter sadly. His grandma didn’t say anything and hugged him as Carter cried while eating. After eating he helped his grandma clean the dishes and his grandma asked him about his grade and if anyone is giving him any trouble at school. After a long talk with his grandma they both went to bed to get some rest and sleep. It was now morning yet the sun hid from the black clouds, the weather was cold as it started to rain. Carter felt a chill on his spine as he woke up. He realized that he woke up late so he rushed to eat his breakfast and took a bath quickly. Carter went to school with his friend Evan, as they rode the bus Carter started to talk with his friend Evan about what happened yesterday. “You wouldn’t believe what happened yesterday Evan!” Carter said excitedly. “What happened yesterday?” Evan replied. “As I was walking home after going to the library an unknown voice whispered to me. It told me to not be scared but I ran away because it scared me.” Carter said as he panicked. “Nice joke dude hahaha!” Evan said as he thought that Carter was joking. Carter realized that neither his grandma nor his best friend doesn’t believe a word that he says. That's when Carter decided to keep it up all by himself as he tries to find the lifeless land. School ended slowly. Carter felt exhausted from all the teachings in his school. Evan talked to him as they left school. “Do you want to play some games in my house and watch some movies?” Evan said to Carter “Sorry but I can’t Evan, my grandma said I need to be home early.” Carter said as he lied to Evan “It's cool, let's just play some other time.” Evan said disappointed. Carter decided to walk rather than taking the bus. As he walked down the long road he heard the strange voice again but this time Carter had the courage to confront it. “It is I, Zudnir, Do not be afraid.” The unknown voice said as it tried to convince Carter. “Who are you exactly?” Carter said as he tries his best to not be afraid. “It is I, Zudnir, the king of the Shumpak kingdom…” Said the unknown voice as he reveals his identity.
