The Lost Artifacts Of Zudnir

Message From The King

“You’re dead! How can you talk to me if you’re dead!” Carter screamed loudly as he thought that the voice was a fraud.

“The tales that had been passed down were all wrong! I never got killed!” Zudnir informed Carter.

Carter's mind was flooded with so many questions that he didn't know which one he should ask first.

“Why? How? If you're alive then why would you want me to be your successor and how did you even get in my dream? Where are you? It doesn't make sense at all, none of it does!” Carter screamed as his head starts to hurt

As he knelt down to the ground he suddenly had a vision as Zudnir told him what really happened during the ancient times.

Zudnir started to tell Carter what really happened during his time. “Many kingdoms were created by the God’s and the Goddesses but the kingdom of Shumpak was the closest to the Gods and Goddesses. It was created to retain the peace of all kingdoms. The Gods created different rulers for each and every kingdom. I was created to rule the kingdom of Shumpak and secure the peace of the world. In fulfilling this task, the Gods gave me different artifacts and made me immortal. A lot of centuries passed by and the kingdom of Shumpak stood its ground. All kingdoms live in peace as the kingdom of Shumpak stands. We were indestructible and undefeatable. Until one day the population of all kingdoms grew rapidly to the point that the Gods voted for an eternal cleanse. As the Gods announced their will, many people panicked, some accepted their faith, and some decided to ask the God’s for mercy. As my anger grew from the news of the Gods' decisions, even though I knew that I would not be killed, I decided to rebel against them. As the king of the Shumpak kingdom I convinced them to fight with me. Our fate was sealed, from the beginning we already knew that we would be wiped out yet we fought for the hope that we could stop them. All of my soldiers were wiped out, we failed to stop the will of the Gods, they took their artifacts that they gave me, I was sealed for eternity but the seal grew weaker and weaker as centuries passed. The seal was weakened enough for me to find a successor to fight for my sake. While I was resting inside the prison, you called my name a lot of times. You called me first, that's when I saw you were determined enough to be my successor.”

Carter asked him. “Why would you even need a successor if your battles were already done?”

“It is not done yet. The Gods are planning to wipe out humanity just like what they did with us before.” Zudnir said with a heavy heart.

“Why would they do that? Is it because the humanities population is also growing? I am just a kid, why wouldn't you try to find a much more worthy successor rather than me?” Carter said curiously as he looked above the clouds.

The voice disappeared and Carter was not yet satisfied with all the things he heard. It started to rain so he rushed to go home. He reached his home dripping wet from the rain. As usual, he eats with his grandma and sleeps peacefully after. While Carter was sleeping he saw a place in his dream. It was dark, there were no trees, no flowers, no animals, the place seemed gloomy and had no life at all. Then he suddenly woke up, he was anxious and scared. He wants to tell his grandma about what he dreamt of but he doubts that his grandma would even believe a thing he says so he decided to keep his mouth shut and sleep again.

He felt uneasy when he woke up. He prepared himself as he goes to school again. He met Evan at the school since he woke up late.

“This is the first time you’re late for school Evan.” Carter said.

“I forgot to set my alarm, luckily my mom woke me up.” Evan replied.

Like every middle schooler, Carter also has a crush. He couldn't stop himself from staring at her. He might be clever but he has no luck when it comes to love but it didn’t stop him from liking her even though he knew he never had a chance. Her name is Leyla. Leyla was not that smart, she is an average middle school student but when it comes to looks and personality, she excels. Many students have fallen in love with Leyla but she rejected them all.

Class was finished. As they walked outside Carter was trying to find Evan until Brandon pushed him then walked away.

“Move you jerk!” Brandon shouted angrily.

As Carter stumbles he accidentally bumped into Leyla. As they lay on the ground Carter was on the top of Leyla then they suddenly felt a connection.

“Are you fine Leyla? Sorry I didn't mean to bump into you.” Carter stuttered as he spoke nervously.

“Ye Carter…” Leyla said shyly.

They felt a romantic connection as they stood up.

“Let me help you pick up your things.” Carter said while he smiled.

“Thanks Carter!” Leyla said happily.

As Leyla left Carter had a smirk on his face as he looked at her. While walking Leyla felt something strange, she felt like butterflies were inside her stomach. She didn't know that what she was feeling was love.

Evan found Carter outside the school.

“Oh my God, no way that just happened!” Carter screamed at Evan.

“Woah woah woah cool yourself man. What happened?” Evan was curious.

“I accidentally bumped into Leyla and she even thanked me even though I bumped into her!” Carter said to Evan enthusiastically with a big smile on his face.

“She just thanked you, What's the big deal?” Evan sighed.

They rode the bus and didn’t play this time as Evan said that he will be reviewing for the upcoming quizzes. While they were riding the bus Carter tried to take a quick nap then suddenly Carter heard Zudnir’s voice again.

“Prepare yourself Carter, they will strike their first attack in 2 days. Be prepared for it will show the entrance where the kingdom can be found.” Zudnir whispered to Carter while he was napping.

Carter woke up as he caught his breath.

“You ok Carter?” Evan asked.

“Yeah I'm fine.” Carter replied.

Carter was now home. He rushed into his room to study for his upcoming quizzes but he can’t focus as he thinks about what Zudnir told him.

“What does he mean that the Gods will strike in 2 days? Why would I even believe him? It was probably just my mind playing with me, rather than focusing on something nonsense, focus on your quiz.” He told himself.
