Understanding

Alexander's POV

After having Lily and the rest of Blue Moon pass Bryce and I, I couldn't help but laugh at them. Lily obviously has a tight nit group and she just seemed so carefree with them. Reading their minds and not holding back how they feel about our training. I thought our training was good but I guess we could do better.

I mean seeing the way Blue Moon gets through the warm up as a team never leaving anyone behind, its a sight to see. Our warriors don't work like that. Blue Moon broke up in pairs and did the warm up exercises, encouraging eachother, doing times and counts. Black Stone are all scattered out doing everything on their own you can see them watching with curiosity.

After everyone finished Bryce called for everyone to pair up for sparing but before we get to that we have Lily's and James match. Everyone goes to the ring really it is just a raised platform we use for demonstrations or challenges.

Lily walks up to me before getting in the ring and gives me kiss of reassurance. I grab her waist not really wanting her to do this, and also not wanting to see another man's hands on her. "I'll be fine!" She whispered in my ear. I swell with pride that she is going to do this, but I'm also worried about her I know how James is. I smiled and nodded nonetheless.

Lily walked in the ring sending me a wink over her shoulder. I feel a couple of people walk up to me. "Don't worry she can handle herself and knowing Lil she has something special in stored for him." Hayley laughed.

"She is the top female warrior, she has taken down ever male in our pack atleast once. She has the respect of all our men. Why do you think they follow her no questions asked?" Jill asked.

"I figured because she is the Alphas daughter." I replied obviously.

"They would respect her, yes because she is the Alphas daughter, but also because she earned it not only with her brain of making elixirs to keep them safe but also because of her fighting skills. They know who she is and what she can do but when in training she doesn't use her power it is all her." Jill explained.

"We work as a team, we train as a team, no man left behind! We run 15 laps, do 100 of everything we did before plus some other things, we do an obstacle course, at the end of the obstacle course we climb as wall as a team. Then we do a tournament stronger warriors against weaker sometimes, we mix it up to build strength, because we are only as strong as our weakest link. Our omegas train, out kids train they do basics because everyone should be able to defend themselves." Hayley told me, I must of looked ridiculous because my jaw is practically on the ground. Who let's omegas train? They shouldn't be fighting they can get hurt, I thought to myself.

"So that's why Lily told me your warriors said our training sucks?" I asked trying to think of something else to say. I'm so confused I didn't realize we were lacking so much.

"Ever since our Luna was so brutally taken from us, we grew as a pack. Something that can destroy a pack brought us together. We all helped our Alpha family through it, we are loyal to the bone and we will protect our own. That's why we have the strongest warriors and the best security. We are one big family we trust eachother wholeheartedly." Jill continued with a crack in her voice.

"We don't hide things from eachother there are no secrets, if someone has a problem they come to the ranked member and they work it out. Lily has taken a big role in the pack helping everyone with their problems, shes been acting like our Luna for a long time trying to make up for what happened. She has blamed herself for her mom's death thinking that she should have done more. So she stepped up she helped make changes. She took on so much so young and the drive to avenge her mom only drives her to do better for everyone and make sure we are all safe." Hayley continued with sympathy.

"Why does she blame herself she was 10 years old? No 10 year old should have to go through that. She shouldn't blame herself." My heart aches for my mate. No child should have to live with that.

"For 3 days Gem wouldn't give Lily back control they both blamed themselves but Lily more so, so Gem gave her time. He brothers and father finally convinced Gem to give Lily control back. Both Alpha Eric and Lily blamed themselves, they worked through it together. They turned their grief and buried themselves in the pack making us stronger so nothing like that happens to anyone else. Lily still has nightmares of that day. They worked through a lot of it but I know it still weighs on them." Jill says wiping a tear that fell.

"Lily puts a strong face on for everyone always. She is a happy bubbly girl but it's nothing like it use to be. She is much tougher now." Hayley said solemnly.

"What can I do?" I asked at a loss for word.

"Be there for her and don't held her back. Let her show her worth. Fight along her side, not against her and don't try to tie her down because she will just make a run for it. Help support her in finding the answers she is trying to get and find the people that took her mom from her. That's really all you can do." Hayley said.

Goddess my girl needs some relaxing time. It seems she had been going full force since was 10. It's not healthy! My mate is f**king amazing though stepping up like that, she is going to make an amazing queen one day. I know a lot are going to have a hard time liking her especially the females since she is a warrior. I can already see her making changes when she can. Times are changing its time the royal pack starts to change with the times.

'Mate is strong, mate is meant for this.' Blaze said puffing out his chest proud of his mate.

'I know but we are going to have to make sure she takes care of herself as well. She won't always be able to protect everyone. She will lose herself. We can't let that happen.' I told him.

"Alright all its time for this match Lily and James please step forward." I hear Bryce say breaking me out of my conversation with my wolf.

"Rules are simple no kill shots, human form only, first person to submits wins. Anything else goes, use what you got. There is no outside help, no one can step in, no weapons just your skills as a fighter. May the best warrior win!"

They both climbed in and started to get a feel for the ring. Lily keeps her eyes on James the whole time. I have confidence in her but I'm still worried. I don't know if I can keep Blaze back watching this. I look around and all the Blue Moon warriors have smiles in their faces like they aren't worried at all.

I look up at the palace and catch sight of dad standing at his office window but then I also catch sight of my mom and brother sitting on a bench outside the palace watching. Mom has a smug look like she thinks Lily will make a fool of herself or something, and that really pisses me off.

I don't get why mom is so against women training. I think it's more that she doesn't want to so she forces the women in our pack to do the same. I also think that dad doesn't push it so he can keep mom happy and I get it wanting to make your mate happy. I feel that way for Lily I just want to make her happy.

Pulling my attention back to the ring I watch as Lily and James get into fighting positions. I can't help but appreciate my mates body she took off her sweatshirt and good goddess she is the sexy women I have ever seen. In her black sports bar and leggings the way her a** moves. I wipe my chin cause I feel like I'm drooling, earning a giggle from the girls next to me. I just ignore them and keep my eyes on my mate.

"Just because you are all cozy with the Prince doesn't mean I'll take it easy on you beautiful, but I will hold back from hitting that pretty face of yours." James is a smack talker but Blaze doesn't like what he is saying, as he growls in the back of my mind.

"Oh don't hold back at all I know I won't be!" Lily said with a straight face but you can see a smile itching the corner of her lips.

"How many moves you think it will take for her to get him?" I heard one of the Blue Moon warriors I think his names Rick asked another one of their warriors.

"I don't know this guy looks pretty big, no bigger then Matt though so knowing Lily 5 unless he draws blood first then he will just be done for." He answered with a smirk, probably thinking of a memory.

"Your right if he draws blood he is so done for. Watching her circle him right now she already toying with him." The guy Rick said.

"My money's on James man this little girl ain't got nothing on him." I heard on the other side of me one of my warriors, George say to Sam. Neither of them were at the rogue attack.

"I mean I wouldn't mind getting her under me either man. Just look at her, she looks nothing like the women in our pack." Sam smirked at George not taking his eyes off my mate. I let a low growl escape me at that, no one but me will have her beneath them, no one else will have what is mine.

Both their heads shot to me, the bowed their heads and walked away. I know not everyone one knows that Lily is my mate yet, but that is still no way you should talk about a she-wolf.

I looked up at the ring and Lily and James are still circling eachother no one willing to make the first move. You can see them both sizing eachother up. The tension is rising between them, you can see James getting frustrated because Lily hasn't made a move yet.

Lily knows exactly what she is doing. You should never fight angry it clouds your judgment. Lily's eyes don't leave James trying to read his movements. She must have found something because the next step she took she dove at his legs. James jumps up to dodge her, but Lily doesn't let him go to far she tucks her head in and rolls right under James.

Popping right back up to her feet behind him. When James lands and trys and turn around Lily has already dropped to the ground sweeping his legs out from under him making James land with a hard thud. Lily let's him get up and get his bearings again. James is absolutely fuming now.

Once James is set again he goes lunging for Lily. She jumps and flips over him before he can get his hands on her.

"She's toying with him. She's getting a feel for your warriors you know. He is c**k and thinks because she's a girl and tiny that he can take her no problem." Hayley stated next to me. I just nodded not willing to take my eyes off Lily.

James quickly turns around and goes at Lily again but this time she doesn't jump. She just stands there. What the hell is she doing?
