At the rooftop, the party was alive with wealthy heirs, heiresses, CEOs, lawyers, and other high-profile guests, all dressed impeccably. Loud music from the DJ set the lively mood as people mingled, ate, drank, and greeted the hosts.
The atmosphere shifted the moment Barry and Calvin entered. Every head turned. Both men walked with majestic confidence, commanding the room silently. Their height, build, wealth, and handsomeness made them the embodiment of every girl's dream.
They approached the twin brothers, who had been staring at them.
"My man," Trevor said, shaking Calvin's hand with a grin.
"You guys always steal the spotlight," Travis remarked. They all chuckled.
"Come on, that's not true," Barry said, shaking hands.
"It is. The same thing happened when those two arrived," Travis gestured toward a table.
"Eric and Davis are here already?" Barry asked. They walked over.
"Welcome, guys," Davis greeted as they exchanged pleasantries before sitting down.
"How was your trip?" Eric asked Calvin.
"Good, I guess. Just a business trip," Calvin replied, emotionless.
"What got you upset this time? Janice still hasn't answered your calls or texts?" Davis asked. Everyone chuckled.
"You got that right," Barry said.
"Please stop," Calvin groaned, palm to his face.
"Wait here. I'll look for our table," Darcie said. Hailey nodded, watching her mingle. She felt out of place-she didn't know anyone, and she couldn't even afford a necklace like the ones adorning the other women. Darcie, on the other hand, seemed well-known.
Hailey's thoughts were interrupted as a woman passed by. The perfume alone drew attention.
"Wow," Hailey muttered, watching the stunning woman from her curly blonde hair, to the skimpy red dress, down to her red stilettos. Other guests also turned to look.
Hailey's gaze followed her to a table, where she saw Calvin stand upon noticing the woman. They embraced, and Calvin kissed her briefly.
"Oh... so he has a girlfriend," Hailey muttered, biting her lower lip. "What was I thinking? I never stood a chance."
Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm, pulling her toward a corridor.
"What the hell are you doing here?" the woman demanded. Hailey gasped in shock.
"M... Mrs. Drew..."
"I asked you a question! What are you doing here? Were you even invited?" Mrs. Drew thundered.
"I am..." Hailey began.
"Here to introduce yourself to my sons? Leech off them like you did my husband? Who do you think you are?" Mrs. Drew yelled, bloodshot eyes blazing.
Hailey's initial shock turned to irritation. She pulled her arm away and adjusted her dress.
"Did you just say 'leech off'? He's my father, and it's his responsibility to take care of me. That is the least he could do after abandoning me," she spat.
"How dare you!" Mrs. Drew growled.
"I'm not here to tell your sons who I am. I came with a friend," Hailey stated firmly.
"And how am I supposed to believe that? For all I know, you're after my sons' money. I know how poor girls like you act," Mrs. Drew said.
Hailey scoffed. "Even if I were starving, I wouldn't beg you-or your family." She turned to leave, but Mrs. Drew grabbed her, trying to drag her back.

At the party, the woman in red sat beside Calvin, who held her hand fondly.
"Hi, guys," she said with a smile.
"Hi," the others muttered, clearly uninterested. She rolled her eyes at them and turned to Calvin.
"How was your trip, darling?" she asked.
"It was great. I came back two days ago and have been waiting for you," Calvin replied, caressing her fingers.
"I've just been busy," she said.
"Too busy to even pick his calls?" Davis asked. She gave him a tight smile.
"Yes, Davis. I barely had time for myself. I actually came to the party to see him. I have an engagement in an hour..."
"What? An engagement?" Calvin asked, surprised.
"Yes, baby," she replied.
"We need to talk," he said, standing up and walking away. She sighed and followed.
"Why does he even stand her?" Davis muttered.
"They've been together a long time. Why do you three hate her?" Travis asked.
"She's cheating," Barry blurted.
"Isn't it obvious?" Eric said, gulping his drink.
"You just have to know her to understand," Davis said. Travis and Trevor exchanged surprised glances.

On the balcony, Janice approached Calvin, who was staring at the city.
"Babe," she called, arms around him. "Your friends keep saying derogatory things about me. Why do you allow that?"
"They didn't mean it that way, I promise," he said.
She stepped back, leaning on the railings, feeling his gaze on her which she welcomed. "I missed you," he said.
"I know, that's why I was explaining myself," she replied. Calvin sighed.
"We've been apart for three months. I wanted to spend the weekend with you immediately after I got back, but I couldn't reach you."
"I'm busy too. I've got shoots, interviews, runway shows, public appearances... you know how exhausting it can be," she said.
"I do know, Janice. I just... want to spend time with my girlfriend, even briefly. But you keep making excuses, and it makes me feel undervalued," he said.
"Of course I value our relationship, baby. I love you," she said, placing her hands on his face and kissing him briefly. He pulled her in for a deeper kiss, their passion consuming them.
"Spend the night with me," he said, longing evident in his eyes.
"I..."
"Please, babe," he urged.
"I can't. I have a prior engagement. I'm late," she said, checking her wristwatch.
"I'll make it up to you, I promise," she said, pecking his cheek before walking away. Calvin watched her until she disappeared from sight, then stared blankly until his phone rang. It was Barry.
"Hey, what's up?" he answered.
"Janice just left. Did you get to talk to her?" Barry asked.
"Yeah, I did. I'm on my way there," Calvin replied, hanging up.
He turned to leave but paused as a woman pulled a younger girl by the arm.
