I didn't think.
The moment Dante screamed "RUN!" my body moved on instinct.
I threw myself into the window frame, glass shattering around me with some sharp edges cutting into my skin.
Pain shot through my left ankle as I hit the ground, but I ignoredg it.
Behind me, through the shattered window, I heard hell breaking loose and in the midst of the chaos, Dante's voice rose in a roar that didn't sound human at all.
Then came the other sounds that made my blood run cold. Growls that seemed to vibrate through the night and the sound of flesh tearing.
It was more terrifying than anything I’d ever heard.
His voice echoed in my head: "RUN!"
So I ran.
My bare feet slapped against cracked pavement, every step sending jolts of pain through my injured ankle.
The thin dress I was wearing, caught on a chain-link fence as I scrambled past it. I heard the fabric rip but I didn't stop, didn't even slow down.
Behind me, the sounds of violence continued, growing more savage with each passing second. Dante's buying me precious time with his life.
Then I heard it, the door of the apartment building exploding outward with a sound like thunder.
I glanced over my shoulder and immediately wished I hadn't.
Two figures, chasing me. Even in the dim glow of the streetlight, I could see their bodies changing as they scream in rage turning into something else entirely.
And two massive wolves stood where men had been just seconds before. Their eyes glowed gold, fixed directly on me.
I ran harder, my lungs burning with every gasping breath. My ankle screamed in pain with every step, but I knew if I stopped, I was dead.
Behind me, I could hear them. Their paws hitting the ground. The rasp of their breathing, getting closer with every second.
They were playing with me. They could have caught me already if they wanted to.
An abandoned building loomed ahead in the darkness. It’s the old factory, all broken windows and rusted metal.
I squeezed through a gap in the chain-link fence of the old factory, the metal scraping my skin raw, tearing away more pieces of my thin dress until I was practically naked.
I ran inside and soon realized my mistake.
Concrete walls on all sides, towering above me. The fence behind me, the only way in or out.
I was trapped like a rabbit cornered by wolves.
I pressed my back against the cold concrete wall, my chest heaving, and watching blood run down my arm from the glass cuts.
The two wolves jumped over the fence. I watched in horror, their bodies began to shift again. Bones cracked. Fur receded.
Within seconds, two naked men stood before me where the wolves had been.
They circled me like predators.
"Nowhere left to run?" The shorter one, stepped closer with a wicked grin spreading across his scarred face.
He was stocky and muscular with a scar that ran across his jaw. His eyes held no mercy.
My thin dress was torn nearly to my waist, barely covering me and the way he looked at me made my skin crawl with fear.
"Please," I begged. " I don't know.."
"You smell like him." He inhaled deeply.
"Did he turn her?" The second one, asked as he circled to my left. He was taller, leaner, with cold dead eyes. "I smell his blood in her."
Confused, I watched in horror as their nails begin to elongate before my eyes into curved razor-sharp claws.
"Any last words?"
I opened my mouth to beg one even though I knew it was useless.
Then I noticed he wasn't looking at my face anymore.
His eyes had dropped lower. Traveling down my body, to where my torn dress had ridden up my thighs, exposing my bare, glistening p*ssy.
His lips curled into a wicked grin.
"Wait Adrian," He said, his voice thick. "Why waste a good p*ssy? Let me have some fun before we finish her."
No. God, no.
“No.” Adrian's face twisted with disgust. "Caleb, We don't have time for this..."
"Five minutes." Caleb was already moving toward me, his c**k hardening as his eyes stayed fixed between my legs. "She's going to die anyway. What's five minutes? I earned this Hunt."
"Caleb..."
"You want to explain to the Alpha why you stopped me from claiming my hunt?" Caleb's voice dripped with malice, "Go and come back when I'm done."
Adrian stared at him for a long moment. Then his eyes turned to me with something that might have been pity.
"Five minutes," Adrian finally growled as he shifted back into his wolf form and disappeared into the night.
"Please," I whimpered, pushing harder against the wall like I could somehow disappear into it. "Don't..."
"Shut the f*ck up." He closed the distance between us and grabbed my throat with one hand, pinning me to wall, while the other yanked what’s left of my dress higher, his fingers brushing my soaked slit.
I gasped, hating the spark of heat it ignited as I clawed desperately at his wrist, trying to break free.
But he was so much stronger.
He laughed at my weak attempt, shoving two thick fingers deep inside me without warning and started pumping, making me drip down his hand despite my terror.
“f**k, you're soaked already.” His thumb circled my throbbing cl*t, relentless, while his grip tightened around my neck
I whimpered, tears streaming down my face as my body betrayed me. Despite the terror, my hips buckled involuntarily as he finger-f*cked me, a moan escaping my lips.
“That's it,” he growled as he removed his fingers from my p*ssy and gave me a hot slap. “…beg for my c*ck b!tch”
Immediately his hand landed on my face, pain erupted from inside me, but it was not the pain from his slap. It was something else entirely, ripping me apart from within.
Is this was death feels like?
The pain was almost unbearable as my spine curved violently and fur erupted through my skin. My hands shortened, nails blackening into claws and my legs twisted beneath me.
I screamed in pure agony but it came out as a howl.
Caleb stumbled backward, his eyes going wide. "F*ck, she's shift..."
Pure instinct took over as I lunged at Caleb before he could shift or defend himself.
My jaws opened wide and sank my fangs into his exposed throat.
Hot blood flooded my mouth instantly. It tasted good.
In the distant part of my mind, I screamed in horror at what I was doing. But there was another part of me that didn't care. It only knew that he needed to die.
Caleb made a wet, gurgling sound. His hands grabbing desperately at my fur, trying to push me away.
But I was stronger now.
I bit down harder, until his body went limp beneath me.
Then I released him and backed away on my trembling legs.
His body hit the concrete with a heavy thud.
I stared down at him, panting, my whole body shaking with adrenaline.
Then a howl echoed through the night behind me. It was Adrian. He is coming back.
My instincts screamed: Run.
I bolted, my body moving with impossible speed. My paws hitting the concrete, then dirt, then grass as I ran out the abandoned factory.
I ran faster, my instinct navigating me forward through the darkness.
Behind me, I heard Adrian's enraged howl as he discovered what I'd done.
I ran until my legs felt like they would collapse beneath me. Until I couldn't hear His howls behind me anymore.
Finally, when I could run no further, I collapsed into a drainage ditch surrounded by tall grass that hid me from view.
Darkness enveloped me as I closed my eyes.
And in that darkness, Guerro’s voice echoed at the back of my mind “I'm so sorry for what's going to happen to you, mi amor. But this was the only way.”
