*8 AM.*
Arina was staring at her wrist.
There was a faint glowing line there.
Like the moon.
Caliban's mark.
"Will this ever go away?" Arina asked.
Caliban was sitting on the sofa.
Wearing a black shirt.
His wound was no longer visible.
"No," Caliban said.
"As long as I'm alive, it will stay."
"And if you die?"
Caliban's eyes sharpened.
"I won't die. Because protecting you is my responsibility now."
Arina changed the topic.
"I have to go to college."
"I'm coming with you."
"I don't need you to."
"You do."
Caliban stood up.
"Let's go."
*COLLEGE.*
Everyone at the college gate was staring at Arina.
Because standing next to her was a 6'2" man.
Cold face.
Blue eyes.
And 2 more guys walking behind him.
"Who are they?" Arina whispered.
"My betas," Caliban said.
"From the pack. For your protection."
"I don't need protection."
"You do."
Then a voice came from behind.
"Arina!"
Arina's face lit up.
"Zain!"
Zain was her classmate.
20 years old.
Always smiling.
Arina had liked him for 1 year.
But never told him.
Zain came running.
"Arina are you okay? You didn't call after that night in the jungle."
"I'm okay," Arina smiled.
Caliban stepped between them.
He looked Zain up and down.
"Stay away from her."
His voice was like ice.
Zain stopped.
"Bro who are you?"
"Her protector."
"Protector? Arina do you know him?"
Arina quickly said:
"Zain this is... my cousin. Caliban."
She had to lie.
How could she say "werewolf"?
Caliban glared at Arina.
Cousin?
But he said nothing.
Zain held out his hand to shake.
Caliban didn't shake it.
Just nodded.
"I have class," Zain said.
"See you later, Arina."
"Yeah sure," Arina replied.
The moment Zain left, Caliban said:
"He likes you."
Arina froze.
"H-how do you know?"
"I'm an Alpha. I can tell by scent.
His heartbeat sped up when he saw you."
Arina's face turned red.
"D-don't talk like that."
"I speak the truth."
*AFTER CLASSES.*
Arina was in the library.
Alone.
Among the books.
The door opened.
Caliban walked in.
With his 2 betas behind him.
"What are you doing here?" Arina asked.
"Protecting."
"I'm safe in the library."
"You're not."
Suddenly the library window shattered.
_Crash_
Three shadows jumped in.
Tall.
Black clothes.
Yellow eyes.
Werewolves.
Caliban instantly moved in front of Arina.
"Stay behind me."
"Hand over the girl," one of them said.
"It's the Alpha's order."
"Which Alpha?" Caliban growled.
"Alpha Drayven of the Red Moon Pack.
He said to hurt the White Moon Alpha.
And to eliminate his weakness."
"I am not anyone's weakness," Arina shouted.
Caliban turned.
His eyes turned gold.
"Arina, get down."
The fight started.
Caliban was lightning.
In one minute he took down 2 of them.
The third tried to run.
Caliban slammed him into the wall.
"Who sent you?"
"The Alpha... Alpha Drayven."
Caliban snapped his neck.
The body dropped to the floor.
Arina screamed.
Blood.
Death.
Caliban was at her side instantly.
"Arina look at me. Look at me."
He cupped her face in his hands.
"I'm here. I'm here. No one will hurt you."
Arina was shaking.
"W-why them?"
"Because you saved me," Caliban said.
"Now you've become my weakness.
And enemies always attack the weakness."
*NIGHT. ARINA'S HOUSE.*
The police came.
Statement was taken.
Written as "self defense."
Caliban handled everything.
Money.
Cleanup.
At night Arina couldn't sleep.
The door opened.
Caliban came in.
"Can't sleep?" he asked.
"I'm scared."
Caliban sat on the floor.
Like before.
"I'm here."
Arina looked at him.
"Don't say anything to Zain."
"Why?"
"Because... I like him."
Caliban's jaw tightened.
But he nodded.
"Fine."
"But I won't let him get close to you."
"Why?"
"Because he's human.
And humans can't protect you.
I can."
Silence.
Arina closed her eyes.
"Thank you, Caliban."
"For what?"
"For saving me."
Caliban stood by the window.
The moon was outside.
"Arina," he said with his back to her.
"I'm not asking for your love."
"I'm only asking for your life.
To keep it safe."
Arina didn't answer.
She had fallen asleep.
Caliban stayed by the window all night.
He ordered his betas:
"Watch all 4 corners of the college.
24 hours.
If even a leaf moves, tell me."
*MORNING.*
When Arina woke up, Caliban wasn't there.
Only a note on the table.
`Don't go to college.
It's dangerous.
- C`
Arina tore the note.
"I'm not a prisoner."
She went to college.
Zain was standing at the gate.
"Arina! What happened yesterday? I heard there was shooting?"
"Y-yeah... an accident," Arina lied.
Zain took her hand.
"You're scared, right? Stay with me."
Then Caliban's voice came.
"Let go of her hand."
Zain didn't let go.
"Who are you? You keep showing up."
Caliban walked forward slowly.
His eyes were gold again.
"Last time I'm saying it.
Let. Go."
Zain let go.
Out of fear.
Caliban grabbed Arina's hand.
"We're going home."
"I have class!"
"Class is over."
He dragged her away.
Silence in the car.
Arina burst into tears.
"You can't control me!"
"I'm not controlling you," Caliban said.
"I'm protecting you."
"I like Zain!"
"I know."
Caliban stopped the car.
He turned to Arina.
"Arina, I'm not asking for your love.
And I never will.
Love whoever you want."
"But as long as I'm alive,
no one will touch you."
Arina kept crying.
Caliban gently wiped her tears away.
With his finger.
Without saying anything.
Then he started driving again.
*NIGHT. PHONE CALL.*
Arina was sleeping.
Caliban's phone rang.
Unknown number.
"Alpha of White Moon," a voice said.
"Yes."
"This girl has become a problem for you.
Hand her over to us.
Or we will destroy both of you."
Caliban smiled.
A dangerous smile.
"Try it."
He hung up.
Then he went to Arina's room.
She was sleeping deeply.
Caliban sat on the floor.
And whispered:
"No one can take you.
Even if the whole world turns upside down."
Outside in the jungle, wolves were howling.
A war was about to begin.
