Suddenly, a shiny black Bentley appeared in front of the Solis family's door. The car door opened, and a tall man slowly got out and went straight inside.
"Sir and Madame, there are guests arriving."
The family of four was having a peaceful meal when the servant rushed in to announce it. Diego reacted quickly and stood up first, but the other person was one step ahead and entered the room just as a low voice rang out.
"Did I interrupt your dinner?"
At that moment, even Kevin Solis stood up, and his face couldn't help but show a trace of joy.
"I thought it was a distinguished guest, but it turned out to be Tin."
Amanda's hand, which was holding her food, momentarily stopped. She slowly turned around and coincidentally met that person's deep black eyes.
Quentin Harris! Amanda's breath caught as she looked closely at the man in front of her.
He was the current head of the Harris family and also Javier Harris's biggest rival. In her previous life, Javier had always prevented her from coming into contact with him.
Although Javier had the support of the Solis family, Amanda still couldn't differentiate between Quentin and Javier. She never knew why Quentin had suddenly resigned and disappeared.
Where had he been during that time? She seemed to have just become pregnant, and her health had been so weak that she had to stay in the hospital for more than half a month.
Amanda stared at him without blinking. Quentin also quietly looked at her, but he quickly regained his composure and spoke to Mr. Solis.
"I'm looking for Diego about something. I won't disturb your dinner, will I?"
Mr. Solis waved his hand, saying it was fine, and then asked Diego to greet the guest.
Amanda stayed behind to eat but had no appetite, as only one sentence kept running through her mind:
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
She bit her lip and quickly made a decision, then dropped her chopsticks and stood up.
"I'm going to peel some fruit for the guests."
"You haven't finished eating yet..."
Before Ms. Solis could finish her sentence, Amanda ran off, ignoring her grumbling behind her.
Carrying a plate of fruit to the second-floor balcony, Amanda found Diego was nowhere to be seen, but Quentin stood there.
Amanda took a deep breath, forced a smile, and walked over to him.
"Uncle, here's some fruit!"
Quentin slightly lowered his eyes and turned around to look at the girl lingering at the door. He reached out, took a piece of pear from the plate, and gently bit into it.
"Are you okay these days?" His voice was low, and when he asked softly and hoarsely like this, it was very soothing to the listener's ears.
Amanda smiled and nodded.
"Yes, I'm fine."
She had known Quentin for a long time. When she was still a teenager, they were close. But as time passed, she distanced herself from him because Javier didn't like it.
Quentin saw her smile, his eyes remained silent but softened.
"I heard you fell into the lake. Are you okay?"
Amanda was a bit surprised. She hadn’t expected someone like him to be interested in the entertainment industry.
"I'm fine. How about you?"
Quentin had finished eating the pear, his eyes never leaving her face.
"I'm okay. I haven't seen you at the Harris family home for a while. The old man keeps reminding me to come and have a meal with us. If you have time, come by."
Amanda smiled sweetly, but she couldn't help thinking, Why is he being even more enthusiastic than me?
"Haha, when I'm free. I'm afraid you're the busy one."
Quentin lightly curled his lips into a faint smile, looking at Amanda with a bit of curiosity in his eyes. Calmly, he said, "I'm not too busy."
If Secretary James had heard this, he would probably have been furious.
Amanda bit her lip and decided to take a risk. She took out her cell phone and moved closer to him.
"Then let's be friends on w******p. I'll text you the times I'm free to visit the Harris family."
Quentin saw that Amanda was nervous but still appeared calm. He couldn't help but smile a little more.
"Okay." He took her phone and entered his number.
Amanda watched carefully as he entered each digit. The two suddenly stood very close, so close that Quentin could smell the faint
scent of perfume on her. His eyes darkened, and his throat seemed to tighten.
"What are you two doing?"
An unkind voice rang out. Before Amanda could react, she was pulled into another embrace.
Javier Harris squinted, glaring at Quentin.
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to find my girlfriend. Do you mind?"
Quentin’s body suddenly grew cold, and his hand tightened around the phone as if he wanted to crush it.
Quentin calmly looked at Javier, as if he were looking at a stranger.
"Enjoy yourself."
He glanced at Javier’s hand on Amanda’s waist, said nothing more, and turned to leave. Only then did Amanda struggle to break free from Javier's hold.
"Mandy..."
Javier called her in confusion, but he was met with a bone-chilling glare from Amanda.
"What are you being so stubborn about? I came to pick you up and take you back to the crew."
He spoke impatiently, attempting to pull her hand, but Amanda mercilessly pushed it away.
"Do not touch me!"
Amanda had once imagined what she would feel if she ever met this man again, but now, aside from hatred, all she wanted was to kill him with a knife.
This time, Javier came to deliberately give her face, but after she rejected him, his face darkened.
"Mandy, don’t make me angry. I know you and Lena have a misunderstanding. You just need to clarify things. Why are you so stubborn?"
Amanda listened and coldly laughed inside. So, he came here just to make her reconcile with Elena Lewis?
"What! Do you want me to go back and apologize to her? Who the hell is she? And who the hell are you?"
Amanda glared at Javier, trying to control the emotion of wanting to kill him. Her fists were clenched, her nails digging into her skin, but she still felt no pain.
Javier was so angry that he laughed.
"You're like this... I’m so disappointed in you. If you don’t come back, then stay here and think carefully."
After finishing his words, he decisively turned and left, knowing Amanda would chase him as she always did.
But this time, she disappointed him. As soon as Javier left, Amanda grabbed the plate of fruit and slammed it on the ground where he had just stood.
With a loud crash, the broken pieces of porcelain scattered across the floor.
Meanwhile, Amanda stood there with a cold, gloomy aura, causing the worker who had just run over to take a few steps back.
Javier did not expect Amanda to have such a big temper today. Even with him, she dared to lose her temper.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He left silently, without even greeting Mr. and Mrs. Solis. He arrived and left so quickly, no one even knew he had been there.
Javier's car quickly drove out of the Solis villa. Just under a tree not far away, a Bentley also started its engine and left at the same time.
Secretary James, sitting in the co-pilot's seat, suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. All day, he had been like a ninja, using stealth techniques to carry his boss’s orders from the southern part of the city to the northern part. Now, he was still acting as a spy, spying on Javier Harris.
Secretary James couldn’t help but sneak a glance at his boss, who was resting with his eyes closed in the back seat. He didn't understand why, every time something related to the young lady of the Solis family occurred, his usually calm boss would act like ants crawling on a hot pan.
"Secretary James."
"Yes!"
While sneaking a peek, his name was suddenly called. Secretary James nearly jumped out of his seat.
Quentin Harris slightly furrowed his brow, opened his eyes, and looked at him faintly.
"Go look up a person named Elena Lewis."
Secretary James swallowed hard and replied, "I will send someone to investigate immediately."
Quentin didn’t respond, gently putting his hand against his forehead, lost in thought again.
