Godfrey began his story in the East trenches. At that time, he was still in his prime, and the Mandrake pack engaged in many turf battles with other werewolf packs. One, in particular, was the Savage Revere Pack, a group subordinate to the Krent pack. They were just as barbaric in nature, gaining their weapons from the Krent pack. Godfrey would later learn they had started using poison in their battles.
To counteract this, Godfrey thought of a plan that would entail him and a group of his best wolf warriors striking the Revere pack when they were fighting a different pack. This way, their attention would be divided, and they could easily be picked off.
