Chapter 10

Damian pov

The door to my room was kicked opened suddenly, it was past midnight but I wasn't able to sleep, so I was working. I stood up my eyes widening and I instantly relaxed when I saw it was just Daniel. "Daniel what...", I trailed off as I saw he was giving support to an obviously drunk Darren. I rushed towards them and took his weight on me. We led him to the bed silently and put him down. He opened his eyes hazily and smiled softly as he saw both of us. "Dame? Dane?", he slurs out. "Sleep Darren.", I say sternly. He scowls like child,"I don't want to.", He extends both of his hands towards both of us,"S-sit wit-th me f-f-o-or a while?", he pleads. We both share a look but hold his hands and sit down besides him. He stays silent for a while. Right when I think he's asleep he starts speaking, "You know... I went to the club today.", he whispers. Daniel rolls his eyes and scoffs. I give him a look.

"I met a she wolf there. You know the...the alpha of... of... oh  I don't remember. She asked..asked that why wasn't I waiting for my mate.", He chokes out and starts crying. My eyes widen at that and I wince. The mate topic is the most sensitive to Darren. He was dating a she wolf back in his teens. They both were really in love with each other and they were pretty sure that when they'll turn eighteen they both would end up being mates. But turns out she was not his mate but of Shawn's. Shawn was training to be a pack warrior and was Darren's  best friend. As soon as his girlfriend found about her mate being Shawn, she practically jumped on him and abandoned Darren. Darren, of course didn't hold out on both of them, but it hit him somewhere deep inside. Darren's sobs bring me back to the present. He was full on sobbing now. 

Daniel gave me a look. I could see the uneasiness in his eyes. He didn't like when our younger siblings cried. Even though he and Darren always fought and argued he obviously loved him. I give him a reassuring look and pat Darren. He kept crying but now his sobbing  turned into silent tears. He mumbles incomprehensible things while crying. I keep patting his head till he falls asleep. As soon as hes asleep I turn to look at Daniel,"Did you see that Alpha when you went to pick him up?", I ask. He nods, frowning. "What is it?", I ask. 

"I met her and even thanked her for.. taking care of him. Darren introduced her as an Alpha. But.....", he trails of pondering over something. "But what?", I push. "I've never seen her before. I mean if she's an Alpha I should've seen her in the gala in all these years....", He frowns obviously trying to remember something. Something suddenly clicks in my mind and I look up at Daniel, to see that he was giving me the same look. "Alpha of thunder moon?", I ask. He shrugs. "Maybe. but, haven't you seen her yesterday?", he asks. "No. She had some  business that couldn't be left unattended, as her sister put it.", I say. 

He nods slowly and shrugs like it doesn't matter. Right, why should it matter. I let the doubts go away from my mind.  "I'm going back.", Daniel announces suddenly. I raise a brow. "Belle is going to London.", he said as if that's enough of a reason. It probably is for him. "We're having a dinner with people of the thunder moon tomorrow.", I try to reason. He gives a nonchalant shrug, "You're here.", he says and stands up from the bed to go out. "Good night.", I say. He just nods but stops before going out and turns to look at Darren's sleeping form. He stares at him for a moment then looks at me. I nod at him, he nods back going out for real this time. I sigh and put covers over him. I really wish Darren would find his mate.

He doesn't say anything, but we can see the hurt in his eyes every time when Avery and Shawn are seen together. They both have a kid and are expecting one. He is happy for his best friend, but it still hurts him. I sigh and shake my head turning the lights off. 

Next day I get a call from Valencia again, she tells me the name of the restaurant she has decided and the time for dinner.

I, Darren, Dael, Daisy, dean, Diana, Rose, Celia,John and Alex all arrive at the restaurant at seven. I realize that this restaurant is owned by the Rodriguez Inc. We are lead to a private VIP room where Valencia and the others are present. As we go in everyone stands up and we all greet each other. 

"Your sister the Alpha Rodriguez has an unattended business even today, huh?", I ask Valencia with a smirk. She laughs but I notice that she is a bit tense. "She's coming. she'll be a bit late, but she'll definitely come.", She says with a forced smile. "Lets order food till she arrives.", Antony suggests covering up. I look at them, something is off but I can't quite understand what. I nod and offer them a smile. 

We all sit down and some waiters come in to take our orders. Valencia keeps looking at them sternly all the time. I can practically feel their nervousness. I couldn't blame though, if I were in their place and she was looking at me like that even I would be nervous. 

After the waiters leave we all talk for a bit. 

Suddenly the glass doors are opened behind me and I see that Valencia's face lit up like Christmas. I feel my body freeze. 

"Hello everybody!", A silk like smooth feminine voice says, I gulp and stand up. "I hope I'm not too la....", she stops abruptly  because that's the moment when I turn around and our eyes meet.

She's my mate. If she's here and Valencia seems so happy to see her... She... she's the Alpha Rodriguez. My mate is an Alpha. And not just any alpha she's the alpha of the strongest pack in the world. My wolf is howling with joy inside of me. I feel her scent of vanilla and strawberries overwhelm my whole being. A smile creeps up my face. But she's frozen to the spot. She has a blank look on her face. I take her in. She's dressed in a dark blue full length dress that hugs her body. Her raven black hair are tied in an elegant up-do. Her brown eyes and her full lips. The dress accentuated each and every curve of her body. To say she looked beautiful would be an understatement. she looked so f*****g gorgeous. 

"Audenzia?", Darren exclaims from somewhere,"What are you..oh! You said you were the alpha of the thunder moon! It totally slipped my mind.", he says laughing. 

She lets her eyes travel towards him for a moment but then her gaze comes on me again. I watch as she takes me in. I watch as her eyes travel down my body, my face. She gulps and parts her lips as if to say something but she says nothing. I smile at her. She doesn't return the smile. She must be overwhelmed. Everyone keeps looking at us. "Mate.", a whisper escapes me. 

"Oh my god!", Valencia exclaims. There are many gasps to follow. Everyone begins to smile at us. I return their smile. I couldn't stop smiling. I thought I had lost my mate. She doesn't move. She just stands there. Her eyes never leave me for a moment.

I take a step forward. Her eyes follow all my moments like a tigress. I begun to rush forward to hug my mate. She immediately takes a step back and looks at me sternly. I smile sheepishly and chuckle. "I-I'm sorry. I just--I thought I lost you.", I stutter.

She doesn't say anything but narrows her eyes. I extend my hand for her to shake, "I'm Damian. Alpha Damian Black of Blood Moon pack.", I introduce. 

She looks down at my hand coldly. "Not a pleasure to meet you.", She says coldly. I blink in surprise and a frown forms on my face. Her eyes move towards Valencia and they hold each others gazes as if having a silent conversation. Are they pulling a prank on me? Is this planned? I think that's what they're doing. Slowly a grin forms on my lips. 

 Her eyes meet mine again and they harden. A cold hard look enters her face. She clenches her jaw and takes a deep breath. What's going on? She looks directly in my eyes with her cold gaze. I feel myself flinch. 

"I Alpha Audenzia Rodriguez, reject you, Alpha Damian Black as my mate.", She states coldly without even missing a beat or moving her gaze for bit. She throws Valencia one more look before turning around and striding out of the room. 

I feel my whole world crumble. I stumble back. Did-did she just-just reject me? I feel my wolf howl in pain. I hear many voices but at the same time I hear nothing. It suddenly feels very hard to breath. I feel my heart burst into pain. I gasp in pain. John and Alex come forward to help me, but I held up my hand for them to stop. I hold onto the table for supporting myself up. 

I should go after her. Maybe I can persuade her. 

Yes! My wolf exclaims. I saw her going towards right. The exit is towards the left, right? She might be still here, we can persuade her maybe. Please go after her. He pleads. 

I take in a deep breath and clutch my chest. I push myself to run after her. I turn right and see that the way leads to washrooms. 

I run towards it and without wasting any time rush in the washroom. There's a human lady in there washing her hands. She looks at me in alarm, "Hey! This is a women's washroom! What the hell are you doing here? I'll call the security.", She exclaims. I held up my hand and look at her. She watches as I hold on the wall for support. She watches me in confusion. "I-I'm sorry", I gasp in pain,"My-my girlfriend is really angry with me and she walked off in t-this direction. I t-thought she's in here.", I say. A look of realization crosses her face. "Oh! but I'm sorry I didn't see anyone entering here. I'm in here for last ten minutes. I'm touching up my make up.", She says with a sympathetic look. 

 I look around and see that she is telling the truth. I sigh and run out from there. As I'm about to go out to look for her Valencia's voice reaches my ear, "Damian, wait! Come in here. She's not out there. You wont be able to find her.", She exclaims. I turn around to look at her. I sigh and shake my head in defeat. 

I turn around and follow her in the private VIP room. I slump in a chair and close my eyes in defeat. "Here have some water.", Dael offers. I look at her and I feel my eyes tear up. I clench my jaw and look away. A sob escapes her and she hugs me. I take deep breaths. Pull yourself together Dame! She's your little sister, how dare you let yourself cry in front of her. I pull myself away and force a smile on my face. I wipe a lone tear that has escaped me. 

I look up at Valencia and she looks away and sits on her chair defeated.
