The next morning, Mark and Glen went to Rolling Fork to attend Derrick’s sentencing. They sat in the courtroom and watched Derrick being brought in. He was in handcuffs. When Derrick was brought into the room, he stopped and looked around. He frowned as the bailiff had him to sit. He had been looking for Doris. Mark was sure of it. Derrick had not recognized him. He had passed right over him when he scanned the courtroom looking for Doris. The charges were read and Derrick pled guilty. Judge Hawthorn looked around the courtroom. He looked at Mark and Glen and nodded slightly. He looked at Derrick and frowned. “Will the prisoner rise?” called the bailiff.
