Chapter 3 Ruin Her Today!

1064 Words
Emma's POV: The bulge under the covers was nothing more than a hastily piled heap of blankets. So, Sybil wasn't going to find Emma in the bed. I caught a flicker of shock in Sybil's eyes. A wave of satisfaction surged within me. I nearly wanted to jump up and celebrate. 'No, stay calm. Let Sybil make a bigger fool of herself!' I cast a cold glance at the crowd before me and asked icily, "Did you all see clearly? Is there anyone else in that bed?" Some of the onlookers hesitated, stepping forward cautiously, craning their necks to get a better look. "Uh... there's no one here." "Ms. Anderson, could there be some mistake?" "No way!" Sybil refused to give up, grabbing my shoulders and shaking me. "Where did you hide her?" I brushed off her hand and grabbed Mr. X's shirt from the bed, giving Sybil a cool, amused look as she verged on hysteria. "Miss, you barged into my room with a posse, accusing me of taking your sister and trashing my character. And now, when she's clearly not here, you're claiming I hid her somewhere?" I settled into the armchair by the wall, crossing my arms with a slight smirk. "Let me ask you something. Are you really here looking for your sister, or is this about me?" The room went silent, and I could see people glancing at Sybil, doubts flickering in their eyes. I knew exactly what was going on here. They were just here for the drama whipped up by Sybil. 'After all, what could be juicier than a woman publicly accusing someone of endangering her younger sister?' But Sybil's concern wasn't for her sister's safety at all. She was trying to drag Emma's name through the mud, hinting that she'd been reckless enough to sleep with a stranger while engaged. I was only too happy to plant the idea that Sybil's real motives weren't as noble as she claimed. Before she could respond, I leaned back and, in my best impression of Mr. X's deep voice, added, "Just now, didn't you say you'd do something if she was not here?" I stroked my chin, putting on my best manly act and feeling a rush of satisfaction. After all these years of being silenced, I was finally giving Sybil a taste of her own medicine. Growing up, she always got her way. Dad would never question her, always taking her side. Every time I tried to stand up for myself, I'd end up in trouble. For once, I finally had the upper hand. (End of Emma's POV) 'Why does he look so familiar?' Sybil thought with mounting irritation. 'Even if his face is handsome, something about him is just... repulsive. It's like he and Emma are cut from the same cloth, always putting up a front but ready to strike the moment they get a chance.' "Ms. Anderson," I said, giving her a steady look, "shouldn't you keep your word and apologize right now." "You've got to be kidding?" Sybil's voice jumped to a high-pitched shriek. "Do you even know who I am? Apologize to you? You kidnapped my sister. I could have you arrested!" "Fine," I said, calm as ever. "Call the police, then. Maybe even invite some reporters. I'm sure the press would love to see the Anderson heiress apologizing right here in front of everyone. Quite the story, don't you think? Ms. Anderson," I added, seeing her falter, "we're all waiting." Sybil scoffed, giving me a condescending look. "You think you can make me apologize? Dream on!" With that, she turned on her heel, heading for the door. But after a few steps, she stopped, her gaze snapping toward the bathroom as a loud thud sounded from within. Her face twisted in realization. "So that's where you hid her!" She turned around, heels clicking sharply against the floor as she strode toward the bathroom. 'I can't believe I fell for his little trick. The bulge under the quilt was just a decoy. Emma wasn't there at all. She's been hiding in the bathroom all along! And I'd let myself get thrown off by this man's little act.' I stepped forward as Sybil neared the bathroom door, blocking her path. "Enough of this nonsense!" I said, my voice firm. "You stormed in here, made a scene, and slandered me. Leave now, or I'll call the police." Her patience was wearing thin, and anger flashed in her eyes. "Fine! Call them. Let's see whose side they'll take, yours or mine. Do you really think they'd dare cross the Anderson family for a nobody like you? Move!" she snapped and then turned to her entourage, shouting, "What are you all standing there for? Help me out here!" My stance only confirmed Sybil's suspicions that Emma was in the bathroom. She shoved me, trying to push her way past. But no matter how she struggled, she couldn't move me an inch. "Jessica," Sybil yelled in frustration, not bothering to turn around, "call the hotel manager. Tell them there's... questionable activity going on in here. Have them bring security, and call the police while you're at it!" Jessica, who'd been watching in the crowd, hesitated. "Ms. Anderson... are you sure you want to call the police?" She'd been watching everything unfold, and it was pretty obvious who was being unreasonable. 'If she gets the police involved, things could spiral. And if this goes south, I'll have a hard time explaining this to Mr. Anderson.' Seeing Jessica hesitate, Sybil shouted again, eyes blazing, "Are you deaf?! Move or don't bother showing up to work tomorrow!" Jessica sighed, looked down, and left to make the call. Meanwhile, Sybil kept pushing at me with renewed determination, though she didn't stand a chance. 'I went through a lot of trouble to get this special drug. Today's the day I ruin Emma completely. First, I'll wreck her reputation and then hand her over to Andrew. Once she's out of the way, the Anderson family fortune will finally be mine.' Sybil clawed and scratched with increasing desperation. But just when she seemed on the verge of getting past, a soft, mocking laugh drifted in from the doorway. Sybil's frantic movements stilled. A delicate, mocking voice rang out, crystal clear in her ears. "Well, Sybil. I had no idea you were into... this kind of thing."
