“Breathe, Mia. You’ve got this.” Mia stared at her image in the mirror. Her nerves buzzed, hands shaky as she tried to calm herself. Jared’s voice echoed in her mind. He had been so sure, so positive that she would make it through today’s mock interview. “Just answer the questions honestly. Don’t overthink it,” Jared had said last night when they’d rehearsed together. She sighed, straightening her stance. Today wasn’t the real competition, but it felt just as important. The mock interviews were a way to impress the judges early, to show them who had the poise and confidence for the stage. And Mia needed to be at her best. But Eve, as usual, wasn’t going to make that easy. As soon as Mia stepped into the competition hall, she spotted Eve at the far end, laughing with one of the judges.
