Tver expected his status as a Durmstrang student to get in the way, and didn't expect it to go straight to Dumbledore's most puzzling point.
He couldn't say that he was craving for his magic stone ... "Study," his mind turned over, but Tver still maintained a gentle smile, "I don't mean to denigrate my alma mater, but Durmstrang's study of certain magics is It's a bit backwards."
"So I want to come to Hogwarts and learn what I am missing while serving as a teaching assistant."
Dumbledore leaned forward, a sharp edge in his slightly narrowed eyes.
"But, from what I understand, you turned down Hogwarts seven years ago in favor of the farthest magic school from home in Europe."
"And now after seven years, you've decided to return to Hogwarts, which makes it hard for me to believe the claim that you're trying to learn."
"Not to mention that Durmstrang's lessons aren't that bad, at least enough for you to live in the wizarding world."
Dumbledore's meaning was clear; you chose Durmstrang in the first place, and now you have every intention of returning to Hogwarts, especially after Durmstrang graduates.
He was not comfortable with Tweedledum's purpose.
Tweedledum's smile tightened for a moment.
As if the mild-mannered Dumbledore had just been an illusion, a landslide of pressure came crashing down on him, and the one who was now sharp as a tack was the true First White Wizard!
He had expected difficulties in today's interview, and he hadn't expected them to come up so quickly.
It was a good thing he still had one card - the book.
Tweedledum calmly pulled his own purse from his pocket, retrieved the book with a flying spell, and handed it to Dumbledore.
"I did come here for the study of magic, for the deeper magic written here."
Chilo on the side saw Dumbledore's eyes narrowed slightly, surprisingly revealing a look of surprise, and couldn't help but stretch his neck in curiosity.
But Dumbledore c****d the book at just the right angle where he couldn't see the contents.
The only sound in the Headmaster's office at once was the sound of Dumbledore turning the pages, and Tweedledum had been watching Dumbledore's expression, ignoring the startled Chilo beside him.
Dumbledore's expression was just as Tweedledum had expected, first marveling at the first page, then unconsciously flipping to the next page with an expected look of disappointment.
But Dumbledore was clearly not in control of his brain like Tweedledum; instead, he sensed it at first glance.
"This book has a very ... peculiar magic," Dumbledore paused for a moment and smiled the smile with which he regarded his student, "and the statement on it is interesting, but I don't think that a wizard such as yourself would be unable to see through the statement's Childishness."
Now that's a normal reaction, Tver laughed softly and pointed a finger at the words that resurfaced on the first page.
There was that name - Rowena Ravenclaw.
Dumbledore's smile froze on his face, his breathing stopped for a second, and as his smile faded, Tver relaxed.
After a long moment, Dumbledore let out a long breath, "I need to borrow this book for a while, is that alright?"
"Of course," Tweedledum had long since memorized the entire book, "I just don't know if I'm okay with that reasoning?"
"Everyone is welcome at Hogwarts who is sincere, Foley, and I need to know if you have what it takes to be a professor at the school, even if it's just an assistant professor."
Dumbledore put that book down, but covered the writing on it with his hand, and Chilo could still only see some of the letters.
Tver re-pulled out that wallet, "If you need my transcripts from Durmstrang-" "No, that one I spoke with Headmaster Karkaroff and he was very complimentary of your expertise. "
Dumbledore restrained Tweedle's movements with a serious expression that instantly reminded Tweedle of when he met the examiner during an exam.
So the next sentence was the title of the exam.
"I need to know what kind of content you'll be teaching at the school, as well as assurances that you won't bring that Durmstrang's indulgence in dark magic to Hogwarts."
Now that was an interview, Tver relaxed, he had been prepared for this for a long time.
"I'm applying for the position of Assistant Teacher, do I need to be in charge of the school program as well?" Tver looked at Chilo expectantly.
He still maintained an interest in teaching students, especially the famous Harry Potter.
Chilo stammered before he could get more than two words out before Dumbledore interrupted.
"I've discussed this with Professor Chilo and he'd be happy to give you the students including those up to third year."
Chilo wasn't at all offended by the interruption, instead he pulled another smile.
"Yes, I ... would be happy to ... have someone to share the workload."
"So, I'd like to ask Professor Dumbledore, what do you think it takes to defend down against dark magic?" A smile curled the corners of Tver's mouth and he watched with interest as Dumbledore smiled along with him.
The question was simple, so simple that Dumbledore wouldn't say no, so he had no intention of waiting for the answer to come out.
"It's the offense," Tweedledum crossed his arms on the table and leaned forward slightly to look Dumbledore in the eye, "by defeating the enemy, one is naturally defended against any dark magic."
"Simply attacking won't defeat the enemy."
Dumbledore was indeed heartened, he had reasons for having to improve his students' combat prowess.
That was exactly what Tver had come for.
"That's par for the course, learning to defend is also a priority before attacking."
"Would you dare to believe that? Half of the staff at the Ministry of Magic can't even release a decent Ironclad spell, let alone master the art of combat."
"So, I will black magic defense arts course, as much as possible to teach students how to avoid the danger and defeat the enemy."
"Not just when facing black magic, but also when facing enemies full of malice."
Tevye looked to Chilo who was watching from the sidelines, "Don't you think so, Professor Chilo?"
"Dang ... sure," Chilo froze for a moment at Tevye's sudden question, "but we ... can't teach ... Black Magic."
Tver sighed, Durmstrang's tolerance for black magic and the appearance of the former Dark Lord had led to people always harboring hostility and misunderstanding towards the school.
"That was always a misconception, my alma mater not only teaches black magic, it teaches us how to defend against it. How do you defend yourself against it if you don't understand it?"
"That's why I agreed to make you an assistant teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts; I want you to take your understanding of black magic and teach your students the right way." Dumbledore nodded approvingly.
Tver revealed a surprised smile, "So, my interview today was successful?"
"Very successfully, to be exact."
Dumbledore extended his hand again to shake Tver's, but his eyes went to Chilo.
"Quirinus, please go back first, Tver and I have some things to talk about."
