Neither of us knows anymore. The words lingered in the narrow passage long after Evelyn had spoken them. Elena stood motionless. The silver locket still rested in her trembling hand. She looked from the faded photograph inside it to Evelyn’s face. Every instinct told her she should feel complete. She had found the sister she had mourned without remembering.
