Six months later. I was selected for the National Biomedicine Summit Youth Speaker List. It was in London. The director handed me the invitation. "You're going." I said, "Can we send someone else?" He gave me a look. "Nancy, this is your project. What are you hiding from?" I took the invitation and didn't argue. The summit was at the Grand Plaza Hotel, the venue where Felix had planned his engagement party. When I walked in, I saw the crystal chandelier in the lobby. It was exactly like the one in the wedding promo photos. The flower wall was gone, though. The red carpet was gone. So was the Smith family photo. The lobby was covered in summit posters.
