Chapter One: The News Epilogue 

Hi my name is Rachel Reinstone I am a 20 year old girl and I work at an antique shop called Dust and Treasures. My life is pretty boring I live in the big city of Toronto. I go to work and go home that's pretty much a typical day for me, I like my job it has a few downsides but the old man who owns it treats me like his daughter his name is Thomas Thambala he lives in a little apartment above the store he s a very sweet old man, but the manager is a total nightmare her name is Willow Williams, I live pretty close to my house so I usually walk home but Willow always has me stay past my shift which I don't get paid for, she makes me close by myself even though I am not a manager, and just any other managerial work she doesn't want to do.Today was just like any other day..or so I though.

Rachel Pov:

Today was business as usual it was around 9pm and I was starting to close up the shop, I was by myself as usual Willow likes to leave early and leave me to handle all the end of day tasks. I turned the radio on and began doing inventory, just keeping a log of what we had and making sure nothing was stolen over the course of the day, after I was finished with that I looked at the time 10:30, the only thing left was to count the money in the til and then I was out of here. As I was counting the money the music from the radio cut and was replaced by a woman's shaky voice;

"Breaking news, the biotech company in the heart of Toronto has released some unsettling news. There has been a mix up in the lab, the company Zarconia who's business model revolves around trying to find a cure for cancer states that they may have made a huge mistake and is urging all residents in the surrounding area to return to their homes while they try to correct the issue"

Huh that's weird I wonder what happened, Dust and Treasures is kind of close to Zarconia. I shrugged my shoulders and continued counting the money from the til, when I was done I looked at the time 11:15 "not bad" I said to myself, I went into the break room and grabbed my things as I put my jacket on I felt my phone vibrate I pulled it out and seen it was from my mom 

Honey, I left your dinner in the microwave, hurry home love you.

I smiled at the message my mother was such a kind and caring woman always making sure I was taken care of I responded 

Thanks mom I'll be home in 15 :) 

I shoved my phone back in my pocket and got the shop keys out, walking through the store I just took a quick glance around making sure everything was in place I then exited the building and locked up. Now I don't live very far from the store that's why I love it I can walk home and be back in 10 minutes. I was walking towards the elementary school that is on the way to my home, the wind blowing in my long dark hair when I heard an unsettling sound behind me. I turned around and seen a person about 10 feet from me he looked injured or drugged out  because he was kind of slumped and moaning. He then turned in my direction and starting walking towards me making this sickly moaning sound. It freaked me out so I ran through the back of the school I turned my head and noticed this freak was running after me as well, he was oddly fast. I got around to the other side of the school when suddenly something hit me on the head and I blacked out.

Unknown Pov: 

what a beautiful young woman I thought to myself she looked glorious walking down the  street not a care in the world, as I was watching her I noticed one of those things walking behind her picking up her lovely scent. She smelled like Rose's and honey a truly succulent smell, I heard her heart beat quicken as she took notice of the beast and ran off. My instincts told me to follow her and I did jumping from the rooftops I was perched on, she ran and the beast was gaining on her I had to save her, I jumped down from the school roof and accidentally hit her on my way down, she was unconscious and looked so perfect, I couldn't wait to make her mine. I was pulled away from my thoughts by an ungodly sound I looked up to see the thing that was chasing this beautiful creature its eyes were crazed and limbs were broken I carefully scooped up this beautiful human and leapt back up to the roof tops. Having her so close to my body I couldn't contain my self my fangs extended as I brushed away her hair from her neck. I licked my lips and moved my face closer as i bit down on her neck her lovely blood exploding in my mouth I drank and drank, I really liked this one. 

Rachel pov: 

I slowly opened my eyes and was greeted by the beautiful night sky millions of stars twinkling at me, living in a city you don't get to see much of that unless the night was clear, or you were high up on a balcony or roof. My whole body was unbelievably sore my head my neck what the hell happened, that's when I remembered what happened to the thing that was chasing me? As I sat up I noticed I was on top of the school? "What the hell..." I said to myself I looked around but I didn't seen anyone this is weird..." take it easy beautiful your gonna hurt yourself if you move too quick" I jumped up and turned around, this guy definitely wasn't the one who was chasing me this guy was gorgeous he had dark eyes and hair to match, and he was fairly tall as well but something seemed odd about him "who are you and how did I get up here?" I asked him backing away a little bit he chuckled  "my name is Damien and I saved you from that freak down there" he said jerking his head to the right I looked over and seen that thing it was walking around aimlessly just moaning "what is it?" I asked him suddenly he was so close behind me I could feel his break on my neck "that's what a nightmare looks like" I shuddered I turned around and looked up at Damien he had this alluring aura about him but something still felt weird about him. I felt my phone vibrate I took it out of my pocket and that's when I noticed the time "s**t" I said aloud it was 12:50 my mom must be worried sick and looking at all the missed calls I had I was in trouble. I looked back to Damien "how did you get me up here?" "I jumped" I gave him a puzzled look "..you jumped? That's not possible people cant just jump on top of buildings" he laughed "your right people cant..but I can" he smirked as he waited for my reply this guy was nuts "uh I have to go" he looked a little sad "oh but Rachel we have lots to talk about" how did he know my name? I didn't tell him "how did you.." he rose his finger and touched my lips, my heart quickened at his touch "I have a secret to share with you" he said as he leaned closer to my ear " I am a vampire, and soon you'll be one too" he pulled away and smiled again this guy has to be nuts there is no way this is real "I can see you don't believe me let me show you" he opened his mouth and my blood ran cold his canines were extending into fangs, I couldn't help it I screamed.
