Chapter Fifteen That night Marion tried to see Dionisia, but the Bailiff had ordered that Marion must not be admitted. His men’s fear of him overruled any interest in her, and they sent her away. Next, she tried to visit the Earl himself, sure that she had made an impression on him. If she could get him alone, she might persuade him to void the wager of battle.
