Aria The ambulance doors slammed shut behind me as I gripped Damian’s hand tightly. The paramedics were shouting codes and numbers I didn’t understand, working fast to stabilize him. But I couldn’t take my eyes off his face. He was so still. I had seen him fight, threaten, and dominate every room he walked into. He was powerful. Untouchable. But now, strapped to a stretcher with blood soaking his shirt, he looked small. Humans. Breakable. I hated it. “Please stay with me,” I whispered, brushing my thumb across his knuckles. “Don’t you dare leave me now?” The medic beside me injected something into his IV. “We’re giving him fluids and something to slow the bleeding.
