Delaine picked up on the first ring. That told me everything about how seriously she was taking the situation. Delaine operated on second rings as a professional principle. First ring meant she'd been waiting for the call.
"I saw the filing," she said.
"When."
"Twenty minutes ago. I have a flag on any council document that names Ironveil Medical or your license number." A pause. "She's aggressive. Filing an emergency amendment this late means she's either very confident or very desperate."
"Which do you think?"
"Both," Delaine said. "Confident in the move, desperate about the timeline. The location order has four days left and she hasn't surfaced. She's trying to force a counter-move before Brenn's testimony lands."
