BESTIES TO LOVERS

It's been months and the vacations are over. Schools had resumed and just like any other student Patty and her crew were all set and ready for school.

Blessed and Patty were able to secure their apartment and were now roomies. Hers and Joel's apartment were on the same building but hers was on the third floor while Joel's was on the ground floor. Tony had also moved in to the same block. Tony was always in Patty's room since he didn't have a roommate. It felt like he was their roommate too but they were cool with it because they were like siblings. Patty never slept over at Joel's even though their rooms weren't far apart. Even if it was midnight she would find means to get to her apartment. 

Blessed and Tony started going out but didn't know how to tell Patty about it because they didn't know how Patty would take it since they were besties. They decided to keeps their relationship a secret from her. Patty also didn't notice since they always acted normal around her.  It was a weekend and Patty hadn't heard from Joel so she decide to check up on him in his room. He got there and met him sitting in a sofa while a lady was sitting next to him. She was about to make her way out as soon as possible but she was already seen by the two folks and Joel asked her not to leave. Joel later introduced the girl sitting on his bed as his ex. Patty acted cool but deep down she was confused. Joel tried to introduce them but the girl was kinda rude to Patty. 

" Patty meet Maud my ex and Maud meet Patty my girlfriend". 

Patty waved at Maud but Maud didn't return her wave. Patty was mad at Joel because he just stood there and said nothing. Maud just sat there talking in a flirty manner to Joel and it really got to Patty but the only thing that calmed her down was he wasn't flirting back. Since Patty wasn't involved in the conversation, she took Joel's laptop, connected his headphones and started playing music while lying in another sofa. She didn't even realize she was asleep until she felt gentle taps waking her up.

"I'm sorry I left you all by yourself" Joel apologized.

"Don't worry I'm cool... oh she left! How long have I been sleeping?" Patty asked

"Less than an hour" Joel answered

"I tried your number a couple of times but you weren't picking so I decided to check up on you. I should be leaving now" Patty concluded.

"I'm sorry I didn't hear my phone ring. Why are you leaving soo soon?" Joel asked

"I have to cook, it's weekend dummy" Patty replied playfully.

"Oh yh. I will come over then" Joel replied with a smirk.

Patty just rolled her eyes and shut the door behind her. Joel was grateful Patty wasn't upset but deep down Patty she was upset. She just wanted to get to her room and clear her head. Tony and Blessed were not in the living area or the kitchen so she decided to check her room.She didn't  believe what she saw when she opened the door to Blessed's room. As if meeting her boyfriend's ex in his room was not enough she met her best friends in a compromising manner that she couldn't believe her eyes. She was so shocked that she didn't know if she was to laugh or cry or congratulate them. She just carried her decided to exit the room. She went back to Joel's room. But Joel wasn't as shocked as her and that was where it hit her that it wasn't their first time which meant that they were seeing each other behind her back. She was really hurt not for the fact that they were together or messing around but for the fact that they kept it from her. What is the point of being best friends? The whole idea is to always have each other's back and always be opened to each other. Why didn't they just tell me? These were some of the questions that ran through Patty's head. Tony and Blessed decided to apologize to Patty and they did. 

"Patty I'm really sorry I didn't tell you anything I didn't want to hurt you and I also thought you wouldn't like the idea of us being together so we decided to keep it from you which we shouldn't have...." Blessed apologized meekly.

"Hurt me? Why would your happiness hurt me? You two are adults and you know what is good for you. What really hurt me is the fact that you both kept it from me" Patty replied disappointed.

"We are sorry Patty, it won't happen again" Tony apologized.

"I really do not have a problem with you guys being together. Just don't keep secrets from me. I'm not mad at you guys though" Patty replied with a smile.

"Thanks" Tony and Blessed concluded.

Now there is peace and happiness again and everything is fine but not for Patty. She has been receiving text messages from an unknown number to leave Joel and anytime she calls the number, nobody answers. She wasn't sure if she should tell Joel because the person threatened her not to tell anyone. She told her best friends anyway and they vowed to protect her. It was almost a month and Patty was still receiving the messages so she decided to reply for the first time out of anger. She threatened the person back about showing her messages to the police which the number will be easily tracked and the sender found and arrested. After her text, she stopped receiving the threat messages.
