I, Alpha Brandon, Blackwood of the Silver Crest Pack, reject you, Selene Vance, as my mate and future Luna" Brandon's voice screamed, cutting through the hall like a sharp blade. Those words crashed into her as she felt her heart torn into pieces. The whole crowd murmured. She couldn't breathe, her heart was so painful that she couldn't breathe. The wolf let out a broken howl inside her soul, crawling desperately against the invisible force ripping them apart "No," She cried. She looked at the man who had loved her since she was a child, and looking at his face, his face felt pale, like he felt nothing towards her She remembered that just last week he had wrapped a silver moonstone ring around her finger and promised me that they would live this life together forever. Now those beautiful eyes were as cold as ice "You poisoned my mother" he shouted. "You tried to murder the Luna" He said. There was extreme shock in the crowd as everybody was murmuring "I didn't" She said, amidst the murmuring in the crowd "Brandon, please you have to believe me, someone framed me, you should know that I would never hurt her. I love her so much" She cried He paused and looked at her, for a moment, his jaw tightened like he believed her, and she could see something in his eyes like, something like that of hope, but then he shoved that out "My Alpha" Elara said, stepping towards him with a perfect face "My younger sister" she said, touching Brandon's arm with trembling hands. "Please, have mercy on her" she whispered. "She has already suffered so much" She said murmuring behind his clothes She turned towards Selene, and Selene saw the tiny mischievous smile hidden behind Elara's tears. Victory, like everything began to make sense to her The poison, the poison vial, the servants who avoided her eyes, the forged evidence. So all of these things had been Elara. She had broken her future piece by piece Brandon quietly wrapped his arm around her shoulders "You're too sweet" he said Selene's wolf inside her shattered. He used to hold her like that "I have served this pack my entire life" She said with a cracking voice "I have fought beside your warriors, I have healed your wound, look at me, Brandon. Do you think I would betray your family? She said He looked at her, his gaze finally met mine. He looked at her like he was uncertain, but then, Elara buried her face against his chest "I saw Selene carrying the poison" she cried hiding her face behind his fur, perhaps thinking she might not hear her, and immediately that uncertainty in his face vanished. Brandon's expression became hard "The counsel has finally come to a conclusion" an elder said, stepping forward, unrolling his scroll "Selene Vance is stripped of her title, her rank, and all inheritance. She is hereby banished to the Deadlands" Immediately, someone threw a rotten apple and it hit her shoulder. Then another person threw bananas on her. Soon, everyone was laying curses upon her, calling her names "Murderer, traitor, she never deserves to be the Luna" Each of these words hit her heart harder, like a blade was tearing her heart into pieces She looked and saw the people that she had protected all her life, humiliating her in such a horrible way. Children she had carried since childhood, even during festivals, behind their parents, not even one person spoke for her, not even one person tried to defend her or speak for her Then two enforcers grabbed her arms and dragged her towards the massive doors. She didn't fight or even try to resist. There was nothing left for her to fight As she crossed the threshold, she looked back one last time and saw Brandon and Elara in a very intimate state. Brandon was wiping tears from Elara's cheeks, and then he kissed her on her forehead, they both began to kiss each other. Brandon didn't even look at her direction, less alone looking at her. Immediately, the doors were shut, and everybody began the celebration. There was music, laughter, everybody was laughing, cheering, having fun She was pushed into the rain. She sat down into the rain, crying. Each icy drop mixed with the blood running from the silver cuts on her wrist And there in her presence was the Deadlands, a forest feared by every werewolf, without the protection of a pack. No one survives that place. She carried herself forward, her wolf was too weak to shift, the broken mate bond had drained all of her strength, and right in front of her, there was complete darkness. And in her presence, She noticed some yellow eyes behind the trees. They were rogue, a full pair. They looked... They were growling and they looked very hungry Then a rogue stepped into the moonlight, his muzzle stained with fresh blood, and others were behind him. She laughed. It was a broken, hopeless laugh "So this is how it's going to end" She said laughing The rogues circled all around her. She closed her eyes, not because she was afraid, but because she couldn't stop seeing Brandon choosing someone else. "If the Moon Goddess truly watches us, then don't give me another chance to live" She said opening my eyes. "Give me the chance to expose the truth" She said The rogue, came closer, agony exploded through her chest, warm blood spewed across the wet earth, her vision was getting blurry The last thing she heard wasn't the rogues. It was a heartbeat. It's so ancient, powerful, and it echoed through the darkness like thunder: RISE! The voice wasn't coming from outside. It felt like it was coming inside her soul, and every single thing disappeared She jotted upright and right in front of me was sunlight streaming through embroidered curtains, with cool fresh air pouring inside When she looked around, it was her old bedroom. "That's not possible" She said in her mind. Her hands were shaking as she looked at them There were no scars, no silver burns, no blood on her skin. A calendar hung beside the window, and on it was written, October 14th, three years earlier. A sharp knock immediately interrupted her thoughts. "Lady Selene," a maid called through the door "Sir Brandon has arrived. Everyone is waiting for tonight's gala." The maid said The gala? the night her life was destroyed. Slowly she stood up from the bed and walked towards the mirror, and somehow she expected to see a different reflection of her in the mirror, but it was the same her, the same face, the same silver hair, except a crimson ring now circled her irises For a brief second, a shadow moved behind her reflection, not behind her, inside the mirror. It smiled, and so did she "This time" She whispered, turning towards the door "The one walking into that gala isn't the girl you betrayed. It's the woman who came back to bury your lies."
