Stella's POV
"Remember Stella if there are any problems with your family, you know where to find us," Sophia said.
"Yes I know and I'll see you all tomorrow," I replied, giving them a large hug in return and waving to them as I walked away toward the bus stop. I just finished my shift at the restaurant and I was dreading the thought of going home. I hear breaks squeak and a pump of air indicating that the bus was here as I climb in taking a seat and waiting for the bus to start again, the bus is traveling through the city and then the lights change into trees and I know this is my stop I pull the cord and hop out thanking the driver. It was completely dark by now and I started my walk to the house which was only half a mile down a dirt road hidden in the trees. As I walk up I see the usual guards by the gates and they let me in,
"Hey Stella, Beta Marcus wants to see you," One of them said
"Of course he does, What did I do this time?" I said in a sarcastic tone
"I don't know but he sounded pissed over the mindlink," He added
Great just what I needed I know I had a couple more chores to do before I could start my homework and now I have to deal with Marcus... just f*****g fantastic. I walked through the door and I could feel the panic in the house. Everyone was talking about the white wolf that slipped through the borders. I kind of smiled at that, hehe if they only knew that it was me that they were chasing after. I'm walking down the hallway when I come to a set of doors, knocking. I hear voices go silent before one voice booms behind calling me in. I walk into the office seeing the Alpha, Beta Marcus, and the Gamma.
"Eva tells me you left school early?" Marcus said, "If that is the case why are you so late to come home?"
"Sir, I have the job, remember, I get here around this time every day, and as for leaving early I have a free period, so I go out to the fields to study," I said hoping my white lie wouldn't get me any attention.
"OK, and when you were studying did you see anything out of the ordinary?" Alpha asked me with a stern look like he knew I was lying.
"No... I don't know what you mean I'm only human so how could I sense anything or know anything," I panicked did they know I was lying did they know I was the white wolf.
Deep breathes... they don't know anything
River really is my rock, but I can still feel the looks I'm getting as I'm standing there
"Very well,” He says and I release a breath I didn’t realize I was holding, “Make sure you finish your chores," Marcus said
"Yes sir, Alpha, Beta, Gamma," I bowed showing my respect leaving as fast as I could. I may be human to them but that was the first thing they taught me here is that I'm lower than an Omega, and I need to show my respect. I walk out the doors and make my way to the kitchen I know is piled with dishes from dinner.
"I was hoping the rogue would have taken you," I hear behind me, and to my 'surprise' I see Ron with the dumbass squad behind him.
"I guess they didn't get you either," I snapped walking toward the kitchen, but I only stopped when I felt claws digging into my neck, causing me to gasp for air.
"I would watch your tone with me, I am the Alpha of this pack and you will listen to me," He whispered into my ear digging further into my neck.
“You know last time I checked it was your dad that was the Alpha,” I said, challenging him.
Also last time I checked we are supposed to be human
Shit, Ughhhhh only until graduation.
Faking my panic I start to scratch at his hands and am greeted by a harder grip on my spine. Even if this act is fake, playing with a spine like that isn’t a game to play with. Before I even register the other people surrounding me I feel the grip on my neck disappear but is replaced by a punch to the gut.
Please let me at them
No, we can’t… we have to wait…
If I was human I don’t think I would be standing but I don’t care. I have to wait, I have to conceal myself.
"I'm sorry, Alpha, It won't happen again," I said, still staring at the floor and I saw the shoes in front of me disappear down the hall. I don’t know what is worse, me not fighting back or the pain.
"f*****g human trash," Ron said, walking past me.
Slowly I make my way back onto my own two feet, and walk to the bathroom to freshen myself up. I patch up the back of my neck, which is healing but I can't let them see that. I stay in the bathroom for a minute or two breathing and counting until I can feel River calm down and I still have complete control. You know it was worse in middle school and it wasn’t until I started actually making stupid comments that it calmed down. Thing is yes I could just leave, but if I leave, other packs might view me as a rogue. Rogues are lone wolves who have been consumed by loneliness and because of that they are completely insane. Most packs don’t even bother trying to help them and they just kill them because of who they are. I don’t remember much about my past, but what I do remember is a woman (my mother I assume) telling me how to hide myself. So until then it's the minor beatings and bullying, let them peak in high school.
I cleaned all the dishes and the kitchen from dinner before I made my way around the house to the rest of my chores. To me this place is only a roof over my head, and even if I’m not treated well I do owe this place my gratitude for saving my life and keeping me. I gather the rest of my cleaning supplies as I around the corner and run right into someone. That someone being Beta Marcus, and if the red covering his face was any indication he is angry.
"You have embarrassed me for the last time!" He said in a low serious tone,
"I'm sorry sir, I only answered the Alphas questions," I said, which was a mistake
"You only need to reply yes sir and no sir," he said backing me into a corner
"Yes sir," I replied
I only heard a couple of things that Marcus was yelling at me for, but after the first twenty times I learned to turn him out.
“Get the f**k back to your room, and think about what you have done,” he finished pointing down the hall
“Yes Sir,” I say, making my way down the way he pointed.
Are you f*****g kidding me??
What? I’m just doing what he wants
THATS MY POINT?! YOU ARE 18 YEARS OLD? I’M TIRED OF HIDING!!
They might have something about us and our past River
I don’t give a f**k… The next time I’ll throw your ass back here and make you f*****g watch maybe then you can think about me and how I feel about this bullshit…
You wouldn’t f*****g dare
Try… me… *Silence*
River??
She's right. I’m 18 years old so by human laws I don’t really belong to them. If River is willing to risk everything to protect us then I guess f**k this pack and everything I guess they stand for. I make my way through the hallways weaving between the cluster of people. I bust through my bedroom door and grab the closest bag and start filling it with only the most important things. Since I came to this pack I don’t have anything personal other than my clothes so this is a quick and easy escape. I push the window up looking out past the trees making sure none of the lookouts are watching and I jump. Landing I fake a gymnasts stance and again look around making sure no one is here. Once again this place is so vulnerable and open to attacks, idiots. I start the run toward the front gate and I turn around toward the house flipping off all that it is.
“f**k you assholes,” I curse and start my run to the only place I know that I am welcomed.
**knock**knock**KNOCK**
"I'm coming, tieni i tuoi cavalli" Stefano yelled (hold your horses), swinging the door open. I'm standing there drenched in sweat and gasping for air from the long run
“Stella, Cosa ci fai qui?” (What are you doing here?) Stefano gasped and looked me up and down making sure that I’m not injured.
“You always told me that you have an extra bed if I ever got tired of mine,” I said between breaths
"Who is it honey?" Sophia asked, peeking from behind Stefano, "Stella? What happened? What did they do? let's get you cleaned up," pushing Stefano to the side, I rushed to Sophia in a warm hug.
"I just couldn’t anymore, and I don’t know where else to go" I said and for the first time in a while I cried. She only rubbed my back in circular motions making me calm down.
"Shhh, it's ok, you can stay here for however long you need," Sophia said.
I don't know how long I stayed in her arms but I finally after years of abuse I felt safe, safe from everything.
