Not that they deserved it, but they had to at least get something for their patience. There's no way I'm going to collaborate with them, but it was nice to have a distraction. Ever since I got to work this morning, I hadn't gone one full minute without thinking about my wife and how we left things this morning. She said there was no way we were ever going to go back to the way we used to be. It was unsettling.
After they left and I was back in my office, I resisted the temptation of calling home to see what was going on at home. Was she eating her meals? In thirty minutes, she's going to be due to use her drugs. That would be a good excuse to call home. I would have texted her
