I know Winter is hurt and lashing out, which is why I'm trying my best to be patient with her. Actually, it isn't that hard when I look at it from her perspective, and I have been forced to look at it from her perspective, no thanks to Levine and his constant badgering.
"You what?" She stood so still that I wasn't sure if she was breathing or not.
"You heard me. I care for you too much to let you make that attempt again."
The redness in her face could match her hair. "No, you don't. You're just saying that."
"I'm not. I don't have to lie to you."
She pondered this for a while. "Well, I don't have to believe you." She was right.
"You're right."
"You can't stop me from leaving this room."
"I can." I smile at her patiently. "I can do anything I want."
