I always hated the sound of silverware scraping against glass plates. That didn’t help my case today. It seemed to echo and cause an unnecessary tenseness in the house. It was killing me! On top of that, it’s been a week since the press conference and Andrew has not said a word. Not one! I’ve been trying to take my mother's advice and not ask any questions, but I’m really worried about him at this point.    “ Is everything okay? “ he just nodded his head. I sighed deeply as I grabbed my empty plate and carried it over to the sink, washing it and placing it in the wooden holder.    “ It’s just that……. “ he started. He hesitated and fidgeted with his hands.    “ You don’t have to explain yourself, I just need to know that you’re okay. You haven’t talked in a week. “    “ I know, babe, I’m still taking everything in. “    “ Take as much time as you need. “ he smiled at me, getting up to give me a kiss before heading to get ready for work. I heard the shower turn at the same time I heard the knocks on the door. I reluctantly walked over to see a middle-aged woman standing there. She had on a nice pantsuit, curly blonde hair, cakey makeup, and that ugly shade of red lipstick. She had a few wrinkles but I could tell that she was young at heart.    “ Hey there, handsome, how are you? “ she greeted me as I pulled the door open.    “ I’m great, how are you? “    “ I’m good. Is Mr. Phillips around? “ she asked.    “ He’s in the shower right now, how can I help you? “     She winced. “ Well, I’ve come to deliver some bad news. I’m divorce lawyer Kathy Payton, and I’ve come to serve him some papers and suggest that he speaks with his lawyer immediately. “    “ I was told that the divorce was finalized. “ I raised my eyebrow.    “ Which is very true, but since Mr. Phillips decided to come out of that vanity closet, my client felt the need to re-open a case against him. “ she cooed. I burst into laughter as her smile faded and she looked at me with focused eyes.    “ Y’all are funny. Just hand me the folder, love, I’ll make sure he gets it. “    “ I’m not sure you realize how serious this is. “ she spoke slowly.    “ I’m not in elementary school, don’t speak at me. As I said, if you would hand me the papers, I will make sure that he gets them. “    “ Baby, you may think this is a game, but one thing I know to be factual is I don’t lose! I don’t miss my targets! I have the power to take away everything that he owns…….. “    “ Give me this damn folder. “ I snatched the large folder out of her arm and slammed the door shut. I locked it and chuckled as she watched me walk away through the glass. A while after sitting down on the couch, Andrew returned fully dressed. “ You had a visitor. “    “ Who was it? “ I handed him the folder as he read the seal that was on the lip.    “ f**k. “ he mumbled. He opened it, grabbing the paper, and reading over it. “ We have to go. “    He pulled me up and out of the house, locking the door behind us. We drove downtown to the busy morning traffic of people trying to reach their office spaces. He finally parked the car as I read the sign: George A. Feltman, Divorce Lawyer.    “ Andrew, what’s going on? “    “ The only thing I need you to do is say yes to everything. “ he looked at me with serious eyes. That told me the woman wasn’t playing around when she brought the papers over to the house. “ This is what I was afraid of. “    “ You have nothing to be afraid of. “ I cupped his chin. “ That’s what I’m here for. “    He leaned over to kiss me before we exited the car and stepped into the building. I hadn’t heard of this man before, although the commercials running on the televisions ranted about him being a divorce lawyer for eighteen years. What caused my excitement was the fact that he had a black roster. Black receptionists, black correspondents, and other black lawyers. Once we finally walked into his office, I noted how perfect his brown skin was. His tapered hair complimented his trimmed beard perfectly. His grey eyes focused on whatever he was reading on the thin white paper. He eerily reminded me of my dad.    “ George….. “    “ I already know, Andrew, that witch called me and threatened me this morning. “ he looked over to me. “ Congratulations. You’ve made a certain ex-wife of his jealous. “    “ I don’t even want to talk about her. Tell me what I need to do. “    “ Well, what she is trying to accomplish is claiming half, if not all of what you own. Your houses, your businesses, even the stock that you have in the city. Her argument is going to be that throughout the course of your marriage, she never felt secure or involved, and felt that you were always busy with work and having affairs with other men. Once you did the press conference, that sealed the deal for s**t like this to prosper. Before we discuss legal business, I want to tell you how proud I am that you are walking in your truth. I definitely know how hard it has been for you, Andrew. “    “ Thank you, George, it means so much. “ he nodded.    “ Now here’s what we’re going to do. Y’all are going to get married. “ he sat back in his chair as Andrew and I both sat there looking at each other.   “ I’m sorry. “ I chuckled. “ What? “    “ You remember that feeling I had when you got married to her? “ he recalled as Andrew thought for a moment. “ There was a clause in that prenup you signed that would prevent her from taking any possessions or assets away from you in the event that you re-married. “    “ How am I going to prove that, George? The case is already pending. “ Andrew panicked.    “ It surprised me to see Payton making a rookie mistake. She knows better! “ he twisted the pen between his fingers. “ She called me and boasted about how she was waiting for the courts to accept Kelly's disposition. Once I got wind of that, I phoned some of those same people to forge some marriage documents. “ he went into his briefcase and pulled out the certificate. “ I’m the witness, all I need is for you two to sign. Once you sign your name, Dexter, you have to wear Andrew’s last name as we add you to his paperwork. I’m not sure if you know much about running businesses…… “    “ I’ll do whatever it takes. “ I told him. Andrew winked at me then turned back to George.    “ Good. Here is everything that you need to sign. “ he placed the small stack of papers in front of me as I began to read carefully and sign.    “ Will there still be a court date? “    “ Yes, unfortunately. She was very convincing to some, so despite everything that the records record, they’re still going to try and rule in her favor in any way they can. I’ll be there to make sure that doesn’t happen. “    “ I owe you my life. “ Andrew sighed.    “ I still owe you a favor, so just consider this even. “    Once I was done with signing the paperwork, we made our way back to the house. He decided against work today and I could tell he was still troubled over everything. He sat down on the couch, loosening his tie and sitting all the way back. I started to massage his shoulders as he let out a low grunt.    “ That feels really good. “    “ Yeah? “ I softly kissed his ear. Then I planted two soft kisses onto his neck. “ Everything is going to be okay. “    “ I know, I just…….I just have to stop overthinking everything. “ I walked around the couch and then sat down onto his lap. He grabbed my waist as he looked up at me. “ You’re bad. “    “ I know. “ I bit my lip as I slowly unbuttoned his shirt. I leaned down to kiss him passionately. He kept grinding his waist against me which is something that he did when he was tired of waiting. I pulled away and began to unbuckle his pants as the doorbell rang. He rolled his eyes and cursed underneath his breath.    “ Let them wait. “ I softly grabbed his face and turned his attention back to me. He bit down on his lip as he slid his pants down. He tapped his member against my back before I stood up to remove my clothes.    “ Andrew, I know that you’re in there! “ she yelled as she banged on the door.    “ That her? “ I spit on his member as he nodded. “ Well, get ready to scream. “    I eased him inside of me and bounced just a little. I grabbed him gently by his throat as I rolled my hips. I attacked his neck without anticipation. I could feel his heartbeat increasing and from the way he was breathing, his adrenaline was kicking in.    “ f**k! “ he exclaimed.    “ Andrew, are you…….are you f*****g that w***e? “ she pounded the door again.    “ Go away! “ I moaned as he picked me up and planted me against the wall. The wall directly in front of the door. I heard her gasp as he stroked me slowly while gazing into his eyes. I got lost in them as they glistened like a diamond. I gripped his shirt to keep from making any noise.    “ No, I want to hear you baby. “ he placed his forehead against mine, deepening his strokes.    “ I can’t believe you would…….would……why? Why Andrew? “ she cried.    “ I f*****g love you. “ he kissed me passionately as he grunted, shooting off his sweet nectar inside of me. He leaned forward, breathing into my neck as I gripped his hair. “ Show me how much you love me. “    I groped my erect member and began to steadily masturbate. The pleasure from bare skin grazing the head of my d**k and the deadly strokes that he continued to deliver sent me into ecstasy. He bit down on my neck and that’s all I needed to finish myself off. I tightened my grip on his shirt as I seemed to lose the feeling in my whole body, shivering a little. He kissed me again.    “ I will see you two in court! “ she finally stormed off as we both laughed.    Later that day, Andrew was still raving about everything that happened earlier. Not the case but the s*x. About how adrenaline pumping it was and how even though it was quick, it was the best ever. He jumped into the bed and smiled at me.    “ What? “    “ You don’t think this is a new beginning for us? “ he asked.    “ I do. We just had s*x in front of your ex-wife, which I’m sure she’s going to bring up in court. “ I started as he chuckled.  “ We got married today without even saying our I do’s. I now own half of your possessions and assets, which is kind of awesome. I’ve always wanted to expand my reach in business, writing just happened to take up so much of my time. “    “ They will be happy to teach you everything that they know. “ he leaned in and planted a soft kiss on my forehead and returned to staring at me.    “ Andrew, you know I hate it when you do that. “ I whined.    “ What, I can't admire you? " he smiled, widely. " It’s just something about you, ‘Lijah. Something that makes me want to be the best version of myself. Try new and exciting things. You make me feel that there is more to life than my purpose. “    “ Life is meant to be lived. “ I exaggerated. “ You already have your dream job, and you’re amazing at it. The only thing missing is a relationship with love and nature. “    “ Nature is the only one missing out. “ he grabbed my hand and kissed it.    The sound of my phone broke us away from admiring each other. It was my father inviting us over for dinner. Andrew and I got dressed and made it there in about twenty-five minutes. We pulled into the driveway as my father stood outside and waited for us.    “ About time. “ he smiled as we walked up the stairs. He tightly embraced me and then hugged Andrew. “ I thought I told you that my son wouldn’t be staying with you, Andrew. “    “ I know, I know. “    My mother squealed once she saw me and pulled me into her arms. She placed her hand over my forehead and under my neck, pinching my cheeks and pulling on my clothes as she asked me the infamous questions: Are you sick? Where have you been? Have you been having s*x?    “ I’m fine! Now can we sit down and enjoy dinner, please? “ I moved away from her and sat down next to Erica.    “ You smell like new beginnings. “ she sniffed. “ Oh my gosh. “    “ Hush your damn mouth. “ I mumbled through gritted teeth.    “ You two got married? “ she smiled.    “ Can you please be quiet? “ I scanned my surroundings to make sure no one was listening.    “ Where the hell is your ring? “    “ It’s a long story. “ I shook my head.    “ Oh no, you’re going to at least tell me. “    I hesitated until I could no longer stand Erica’s gaze on me. I sighed deeply before I opened my mouth to tell her what was going on. Before I could correlate my mind and my mouth, the sound of glass breaking caught our attention. We rushed outside and watched as the women circled all of our cars with a bat, yelling as she smashed as many windows as she could. It was Kelly.    “ Andrew, you better get this crazy b***h! “ my mother demanded.    “ Kelly, what the hell are you doing? “ he walked down the stairs towards her. I tried to follow suit but Keenan quickly placed his arm in front of me.    “ You’re staying your ass right here, he’s got this. “ he spoke sternly. I wouldn’t argue against him.    “ Andrew, I swear to God if you walk any closer. “ she pointed the bat at him as he stopped and put his hands up. “ You thought it was funny to f**k him in my face? I’ll show you what the f**k I think is funny. “ she smashed the window of my car.    “ Let me at her! “ Erica raged as Keenan held her back.    “ Everybody, just calm down. “ Andrew spoke softly.    “ f**k you! “ she smashed another window on my car. “ How dare you marry this man? How dare you give him half of what’s supposed to be mine? Mine! “ she raged.    The blue and red lights glowed against the trees as the officers pulled into the driveway. She turned around to look at them as they got out of their trucks. She turned back to Andrew and began to laugh hysterically. She laughed so hard that she couldn’t even stand. She laughed so hard that she couldn’t even breathe. She laughed so hard that she cried. She stood up and charged at Andrew with the bat but the officers grabbed her and arrested her. As they pulled away, Andrew walked back to the porch as everyone fell silent.   “ I’ll pay for everything, Charlie, I…….. “    “ You think I give a f**k about car windows? Why didn’t you tell anyone you guys were married? “    “ Dad, it just happened today. “ I rolled my eyes.    “ Bullshit. “ he scoffed.    “ No, he’s right. Ever since I came out, she’s been trying to take everything that I own. My lawyer did what he had to do so that I wouldn’t lose anything. Payton was…….. “    “ That b***h? This sounds like something she’ll put someone up to. When will these folks get a damn life? “ my mother sassed as she folded her arms. “ Get in the house, we will talk this out over dinner. “    “ Baby, didn’t you hear what she said? They’re married! “ my father stressed.    “ What’s the big deal, Charlie? He’s a grown ass man, and you should know that none of these damn children listen. “ she shook her head as she walked into the house. Keenan and Erica followed suit. My father just stood there, staring at Andrew and I. He grabbed his phone, calling ‘Mere and asking him to get someone to the house to fix the broken car windows. He didn’t release his glare, not even after he hung up.    “ Why didn’t you call anyone, Eli’? “ he called me that when he was angry.   “ It all happened so fast! It’s not like there was an official ceremony or anything, we just had to do it. “ Andrew explained.   My father looked between the both of us. “ I should make you two fix the damn windows.
