"Administrator? Your REM cycle has reached its natural conclusion. It is time to begin the second phase," the voice whispered, vibrating through the bones of my skull. I snapped my eyes open. I wasn't in the back of a rain-slicked taxi anymore, nor was I in that damp-stained flat. I was staring at a ceiling of brushed titanium, illuminated by a soft, amber glow that seemed to breathe with the rhythm of my own heart. "Where am I?" I asked. My voice didn't crack. It sounded resonant, steady, and strangely melodic. "You are in the primary residential suite of the Sentinel Facility, Leonard," the Genesis System replied. "You reached the bunker at 03:00.
