Andrea's POV
" Are you sure you want to do this?" My best friend Mira asked me.
" Yes, I'm sure. Pack it all up," I said to her.
" You heard her, pack it all up," she said to the movers.
I took a deep breath and looked around the villa that had been my home for the last five years. I didn't even know that I was crying until I felt the warm liquid streaming down my face.
" Hey... It's okay. I'm here for you," Mira said and pulled me into her arms for a hug.
Even though I had decided to leave, my heart was shattered. In just six weeks, I have lost everything I have been building for the last five years.
I can't believe that after everything I gave in this marriage, this is how it ends. But then again, was this really a marriage? Did he even see me as his wife? These are the questions that have been burning in my heart.
I met my husband on a trip to the Maldives with my old schoolmates during summer break. I was young and foolish. I knew nothing about love, but when my eyes landed on Lucien, I fell in love instantly. I was only eighteen, a freshman at University; I mean, what the hell did I even know about love? What was I thinking?
I'll tell you what I was thinking... He was handsome, he was well spoken, and most of all, he made me believe in love, that we could be together forever. He came from a good family, and on paper, we would have been a perfect match.
But reality was far darker than that. For one, I'm from the Crestfall pack, an old sacred bloodline descendant from the very first werewolves to walk this earth.
My family is very conservative; as the only Female Omega in my family, they have always been overprotective of me, worried that some alpha might take advantage of me because of my special abilities and family background.
In order to protect me and my real identity, I was forbidden to reveal my identity to anyone outside our pack. So when I met Lucien, I was no better than an orphaned Omega.
I wanted to reveal my identity to Lucien, but I had to ask for permission; that wasn't for my sake, but for his as well. I wanted my family to accept him, but my father wouldn't hear it.
My marriage wasn't up to me to decide. I had long been promised to someone else. Not just anyone, but my nemesis.
Still, I had hoped that true love would prevail. Until reality hit me. My father didn't just tell me to break up with Lucien, but he forbade me to ever see him again. Driven by my own foolishness, thinking it was love, I left home.
I didn't just leave home; I left my status, my family's wealth, and even the very name I was given. I was no longer Andrea Ashwood, daughter of Kael Ashwood, who is the pack leader of the Crestfall pack. I am now Andy Preston. My second name and my mother's maiden name.
I thought that was the end of my drama, that with Lucien by my side, I wouldn't need anyone else. Against his family's wishes, we had a small wedding ceremony and got married.
His family made it clear to me that I can have the title, but no one outside their family and friends could know that I was married to their son.
Families like Lucien's aren't easy to marry into. A marriage to them is like a business transaction; it's all about what you can bring to the table. I left everything behind; the only thing I had was myself, and that's all I could offer.
I had to prove myself to them. That I didn't marry into their pack to climb up into high society, but that I married Lucien because I genuinely loved him.
Revealing my marriage wasn't the only thing I was restricted from doing. Even though we were married, I was forbidden to carry Lucien's mark; they didn't want their son to be tied to me in that way, because once I bore his mark, we could never be able to leave each other. A mark is a permanent bond, one that can't be broken.
Still, it didn't matter to me; I just wanted Lucien, and for five years, I had him all to myself. He treated me like I was the most important person in his life.
Though we were married in secret, he never made me feel like a secret. People knew that he was married; they just didn't know who his wife was.
We made a lot of wonderful memories over the years, and now, all of it is coming to an end, and he is not even here to answer for himself.
Oh, and by the way, the reason my husband is not home is that he is at his secretary's apartment. He has been with her for the last two weeks. Yes, my husband left our matrimonial home to be with his secretary.
All because he thinks that I am trying to kill his unborn baby. Yes, you heard me right: unborn baby. My husband of five years is having a baby with another woman.
That's not even the icing on the cake. No, his mistress had it all planned out; she hired people to take pictures of them leaving the hospital together, paid someone to leak pictures, and since the outside world doesn't know who Lucien's wife is, everyone is assuming that Zenobia is his wife.
Instead of making it clear to the world that I was his wife, he let them think that they were right. I had to find out with the rest of the world that my husband is having a baby with another woman.
That day, my heart broke in places I never knew existed. I felt like my whole world was crumbling down, especially since Zenobia's pregnancy was so far along.
When he came home, I was already waiting for him. It was already after midnight; the reason I was waiting for him wasn't just because of what I saw on the socials that day, but the fact that it was our fifth wedding anniversary.
" Honey... You're still up!" he said and walked up to me. He hugged me from behind, and as soon as he laid his head on my shoulder, I smelled the scent of another Omega's pheromones on him. It was a floral scent. One I knew all too well.
I instantly felt bile filling up my throat, like I was about to throw up. I moved away from him.
" Honey... Is something wrong?" he said to me. He was nervous, but then again, he had no reason to be nervous, because ever since I left my family, I have kept a low profile and lived a private life. I don't even have any social media accounts.
So, the chances of me seeing what happened were rather slim. Although the pictures and the gossip trended for a few minutes, everything was taken down less than an hour after it had been posted. Unfortunately, I had already seen it, or rather, Mira saw it all and sent it to me.
I didn't say anything; I walked to the window, and he followed and stood beside me. I couldn't bear to look at him directly; I could only do it through his reflection on the window.
" Lucien... Do you remember what day it is today?" I asked.
" Honey... did I miss something? Work has been hectic, the company just went public, and I haven't had time to focus on anything else," he said.
" Busy with work or busy with your secretary?" I said.
" Not that again! You see why I hate coming home sometimes? It's because I have to live with an insecure woman like you. Zenobia is my junior; her family and mine have been friends for a long time.
They asked me to look after her. I get it, maybe I have been spending too much time with her, but that's only because we work together; how many times do I have to explain this to you?" he said angrily.
That's the difference between the truth and a lie. Someone who is speaking the truth doesn't need to defend themselves, but someone telling a lie will always try to justify their actions.
" So, work is the only thing between you two, right?" I asked him.
" Yes. Andy, at some point you're gonna have to stop with this jealous act of yours. I am a businessman; Zenobia is going to join her family business someday. I'm just helping her to gain some experience.
Furthermore, she's a rare talent. Everyone at the company likes her; my business partners also think she's brilliant. She has a bright future ahead of her.
I understand, she's young, she's beautiful and talented, anyone would be threatened by her, but you're the one I married, you're the only lady of this house, your position will never be taken by anyone else," he said to me.
I scoffed a little.
" My position? And what position is that exactly? The one everyone says belongs to Zenobia?" I said to him.
" Andy, I don't know what's wrong with you tonight, but whatever it is, you better snap out of it," he said to me.
I didn't realize how angry I was until he said that. I was clenching my fists so tight, my nails were digging into my palms. Finally, I turned and looked at him. I wanted to see if my husband of five years would look at me in my face and lie to me.
" I already know that she's pregnant, and that everyone is calling her your wife. Is the baby yours?" I said to him.
His facial expression changed; I saw something in his eyes I had never seen before: regret and a bit of panic, layered with a hint of guilt.
You stay with someone long enough, it's not hard to read what they're thinking by just looking at them.
" So... You saw everything," he said in a low voice.
" So, it's true... The baby is yours," I said to him.
" Andy... Look, it's not what you think, okay? You're the one I love, not her," he said to me.
I scoffed a little and shook my head. He couldn't even bring himself to say it out loud. Coward.
" So, the baby is yours, and looking at how big her belly is, she's probably in her last trimester, right?" I said to him.
" Fine, since you know, I guess there's no point in hiding anymore. Yes, she's carrying my baby, but it's not what you think. I never meant to cheat on you. It was a drunken mistake.
But this could be good for us. We have been married for five years; we don't have any children of our own, you know that my mother has been pestering me to have an heir. Even if you were able to get pregnant, she wouldn't have accepted our child.
But Zen is different. My mother likes her, and she's happy that she's giving her a grandchild. After Zenobia gives birth, we will register the baby under your name. Zenobia is still young, she doesn't have time to raise a kid, honey... isn't this good?" he said and held my hand.
Did he even realize that he was breaking my heart? That he was literally driving me away from him? He didn't apologize, he wasn't even showing any remorse, in his mind, my love for him was unconditional, but, is it really?
" This is for your own good," he said to me.
