Jack spoke to Michael on the phone as they drove home, exams were finished, and it was happy days for Colleen and him, and they had the house to themselves. He hung up as they parked at Mandy’s apartment building. Jackie was in the vestibule sitting on one of the sofas, long legs crossed, in a tight skirt; she normally wore jeans. Jack tried not to look but failed, tried not to get caught; he failed at that as well. Jackie gave him the old-fashioned look he had taught her; oh the irony.
