The Alpha's Moonlight

CHAPTER 7

Serenity POV

Beep Beep Beep

Waking up, I turn off my alarm and get out of bed. Walking into my closet I pick out my lavender flowy t-shirt and my white shorts. Setting my clothes on my bed I walk into my bathroom to take a shower. After washing I get out and dry off and blow dry my hair leaving it wavy. Exiting my bathroom I put on my clothes and sit down at my vanity to put on my make-up. Once done I head down stairs to the kitchen and pop some eggos into the toaster and start the coffee maker. While waiting I find my backpack and start filling it with the supplies I need for today.

Sitting down to eat I check my schedule one last time noticing that it is split into two days with five classes a day with one being a study period. Checking the time, I see if I don’t leave now then I will not have enough time to explore the school before classes start. Putting the last of my coffee into a travel mug, I grab my bag and my keys and go to my baby. As I input the address I mind-link Kaiden letting him know I am going to school early to find my classes and get my school ID. Pulling into the parking lot I find a space near the entrance and park. Getting out of my car I walk into the school and quickly find the main office. I walk in and the lady at the front desk looks up and asks, “Hello dear, how can I help you?” “Good morning, my name is Serenity Shaw and I am new here this year and missed registration and was told to come to the main office for my school ID. I was also wondering of the school map on the website is correct” I reply.

“Okay, the map on the school website is correct and for your ID can you stand on the X and I can take your picture.” she tells me as she points to the spot in front of her desk. Standing on the X I smile for my picture and she asks for my approval before telling me it will be just a minute for the card to print. A minute later she hands me my ID and tells me, “you will be able to use it in the library, in the cafeteria to pay for lunch, in the schools cafe, and also if you happen to be late to school you can scan the card and we will have a late pass ready for you here. Have a great day.” as I leave I tell her that the other six new students will be arriving soon and I leave to explore the building before I head to my first class, AP math.

Walking into the classroom I see Dareena and go sit next to her. We start talking about the different teachers and she tells me who I should avoid angering and who are easy to get along with. She also tells me how we attend school with another nearby pack and how some of her best friends are in that pack and she tells me about the different cliques around the school. Soon the warning bell rings and a bunch of pack members rush in along with other student I do not recognize who must be from the other pack.

The bell rings for a second time signaling the start of class and not long later the teacher walks in and starts the class and starts by introducing herself even though most of the students have had her before. For the rest of the class she goes over the class syllabus for the year and we play ice breakers so everyone has gotten the chance to meet each other. After the bell rings ending class I pack my bag and start to leave the classroom. As I walk out the door Dareena catches up to me and asks to see my schedule. Handing it to her she looks over it and says, “cool we have some of the same classes and we have the same lunch for both days. After your next class come find me by the cafeteria doors and we can sit together and I can introduce you to my friends.” After handing me my schedule back she heads off to her next class.

I enter the art classroom and look around for a seat, but there are only two seats left at different tables. The first is next to a blond and a redhead and the other is with two girls with black hair and I think Quinn. I walk back to the table and sit next to Quinn and introduce myself to the girls sitting across from me. The girl with grey eyes speaks up, “Nice to meet you, I’m Skylar Lake and this is Madeny Woods.” We talk until the teacher walks into the room and starts class. Today we are given our art supplies for the year and I learn that the two girls I almost sat with are Aubrey Thorn and Cora Rhodes, the queen bees of the school, and they are from the same pack as Skylar and Madeny, The Crystal Moon Pack. I also learn that Skylar is the alpha’s sister.

After class Quinn, Skylar, Madeny and I walk to the cafeteria and spot Dareena waiting for me by the door. Walking over to her she greets Skylar and Madeny with hugs and turns towards Quinn and I saying, “I see you have met my friends. Let’s go find a table and grab some food.” Walking into the cafeteria we spotted an open table near the middle and put down our bags and head to the line for food.

Sitting down to eat we start talking and all of the sudden a load bang can be heard as the doors fly open and the hottest guy I have ever seen walks into the room sniffing the air. He looks around and his eyes lock onto mine and I sniff the air and smell the most intoxicating smell of mint and chocolate. Stella suddenly shouts “MATE! ” in my mind.

Kane POV

Seeing as I woke up before it went off, I look at the clock and see it is only half an hour before I needed to wake up anyway. I get out of bed and get dressed and head downstairs and make breakfast for myself. While waiting for my toast to pop up I ask my wolf “why are you so jumpy this morning?”

“I can’t tell you, but it is going to be a great day.”

Grabbing my toast I take my plate and sit in the living room and turn on the TV and watch some cartoons until people start coming down. Skylar comes over and sits next to me and watches with me. Not long after she sits, she turns to me and says, “I haven’t seen you up so early before, did you beat the cooks to the kitchen?” Nodding I answer, “Yeah, I made myself some eggs and toast. Onyx is excited and the only thing he will tell me is that it will be a great day. I think it has something to do with my marks changing yesterday.”

She looks at me wide eyed “what you met your mate?” she says surprised. “Not exactly, but I might have spied on her for like three hours by the lake. The marks changed by the time I had showered after my run.” Studying me she asks, “why are you not freaking out and looking for her?” Shrugging “I have a feeling I won’t have to wait long. I believe Onyx knows we are going to meet in person today.” Before she could ask another question Lucas walks in and announces that it is time to leave or we will be late on the first day of school.

Walking out of the house I unlock my Hummer and Sean, Laurie and Lucas jump in. I wait until Skylar and Madeny have left and follow them to the school. Getting out of the cat I grab my backpack from the trunk and fish out my schedule. Sean gets my attention and points at four gorgeous cars parked near the front of the lot and asks, “Dude look at those beauties, any idea who they belong to?” I reply “Yeah, they belong to Alpha Kaiden and the pack members that came with him from his old pack.”

As I walk into the school I suddenly smell the most intoxicating scent of pineapples and lavender. Onyx starts yipping like a puppy in my head and yelling “MATE!” Following the scent I soon found myself in the front office. The secretary looks up and says, “Alpha Lake is there something I can do for you?” “Yes you can. Can you tell me who has been through here recently?” I question her. “Not many people have come by this morning except the new alpha and the rest of his pack that missed registration” she tells me. I tell her thank you and we leave the office following the trail again. A while later I noticed that the trail seems to wander around the school with no definite destination.

The warning bell rings and Lucas grabs my attention and says, “Come on man if we don’t head to class now we will be late. I know we are following your mate’s scent, but if she is a student then you can continue the search after first period.” nodding I look at my schedule and see we are near our first class, History.

History was boring, all we did was go over what we would be doing this year, and all I wanted was to go search for my mate. When the bell finally rang, I ran out of class as fast as possible. I go to the last place I smelled her scent, but the trail had faded to much and was masked by the other students. Seeing me frustrated Lucas puts his hand on my shoulder and says, “Hey, it’s alright. If you lost her scent then you can start over after next period. Since you have a free period you can stay in the cafeteria and catch her there.”

Lucas guides me to our next class, seeing as I am to preoccupied with Onyx yelling at me to search for our mate and howling in frustration over losing her scent. Entering our AP French class I chose a seat in the back of the room and zone out thinking about how I might have already found her if I had skipped history.

Some time later I am shocked back into reality by someone slamming their hand onto my desk. I look up and see Lucas and he tells me, “Dude, you were so zoned out you missed the bell. I have been trying to get your attention for the last three minutes. Come on Sean, Laurie and Lucien are waiting for us in the cafeteria. I stand up from my desk and we start walking to lunch. As we walk past the art rooms I sniff the air and the scent of pineapple and lavender wash over me once again.

Having caught her scent I quickly follow it. As I near the cafeteria the scent becomes overwhelming and I fling open the doors. I walk in sniffing the air and locate her near the middle of the room. Searching the faces I lock onto a pair of violet eyes that look straight into my soul.

Onyx howls in my mind and yells “MATE!”
