“The night I stopped being prey and became something else entirely.” Kade’s body hit the floor with a sickening thud. His blood slicked the wood, a crimson halo beneath him. “No…” My voice cracked as I struggled against the wolf holding me, claws biting into my arms. “Look at him,” Lira hissed, pressing the knife tighter to my throat. Her eyes glittered, cold and wild. “Your precious Alpha on his knees. Your mate… bleeding out.” “Lira—don’t!” I gasped, my pulse hammering, every nerve screaming from the bond snapping and surging inside me. I felt Kade’s pain like it was my own, sharp and searing. Ronan stood just behind her, his silver eyes fixed on me—not with pity, but with hunger, like he couldn’t decide whether to save me or devour me. His jaw tightened. “Finish it,” he growled.
