CHAPTER 17: Echoes
Reese's POV
The words hung in the dimly lit air of the VIP section as the woman stopped walking and slowly turned around.
"Excuse you?" she asked.
Her voice was entirely wrong. It didn't have that soft breathless melody I remembered.
I stared at her and my heart slammed against my ribs as the ambient amber light washed over her face. I looked at her dark hair, the elegant slope of her neck and the delicate curve of her jaw.
My chest tightened as I realized it wasn't her Elodie.
The woman blinked reapetedly. Looking totally surprised by the tall, brooding stranger suddenly blocking her path.
