A world she’d left forever. Boulders took shape, causing her to swerve from her path. She began to hear things, too: the soft tread of her footfalls, the ghostly whisper of a gentle breeze, the faint babble of slow-moving water. Squinting, Keriya saw a river ahead, flowing at a glacial pace. This was by far the most prominent feature of the dark, dead landscape. Something about it beckoned her.
