To my surprise, I found Kennis waiting in the lobby, phone to his ear. My pulse quickened, and butterflies fluttered in my stomach. He turned when he sensed us approaching.
"Oh, look at him, such a nice young old man," Ayana laughed. Kennis's eyes were fixed on me, even as he went to kiss Ayana's cheek. She cupped his other cheek with a smile.
"You are as handsome as ever," she said.
"And you are as beautiful as ever, Ayana," he said softly. It seemed the two knew each other well and were fond of one another. Their interaction was heartwarming, and surprisingly, I felt no jealousy.
