Genevieve     ‘Genevieve, are you okay?  What’s causing your pain?’ I heard Atreyu ask through our mind link, as I squeezed the arm of the couch.     ‘Atreyu, it’s time!  Get back here!’ I responded, wishing he hadn’t left our mountain.     ‘I’m not too far from there!  I will be there soon,’ he assured me before cutting the link.     I’d only had a few contractions, but they were strong contractions and hurt like hell.  By the time an hour had passed, they were coming twenty minutes apart, and I was worried it was going to go so fast that Atreyu might not make it home in time.     Knowing I couldn’t stop the labor, I summoned our personal doctor to our chambers and started preparing to give birth to our son with or without Atreyu being present.  When he arrived a short time later, he gave me a quick exam and assured me that there was still time for Atreyu to make it back, because I was only dilated six centimeters.     The nurses that accompanied my doctor did their best to make me as comfortable as possible, but it was impossible.  Nothing could bring me comfort except my mate.  I needed Atreyu in a bad way, and I needed him right then.     As if on cue, Atreyu suddenly burst into the birthing room he had set up for me.  Not wasting a second, he seeked me out and ran to my side, then he took my hand between his and affectionately mumbled, “I made it here in time!  So sorry to keep you waiting, angel!”     “It’s okay, my love.  I’m just glad you’re here now,” I rushed to say before squeezing his hand and groaning through another strong contraction.     “I have returned with more good news!  We secured an alliance with the Sapphire Kingdom,” Atreyu cheerfully remarked after I stopped groaning.     If I hurt his hand, he didn’t let it show one bit.  Instead, he let me keep a grasp on it while using his other hand to tuck the unruly hair of mine behind my ear.     Despite being in pain, I was easily able to smile at my handsome mate and reply, “That is wonderful news!  I’m so proud of you, Atreyu!  Our boy has the best father and king to learn from!”     “And the best mother to show him love,” Atreyu affectionately remarked.     The contractions steadily got stronger and more painful, but having Atreyu beside me made it all bearable.  He gave me words of encouragement; wiped the sweat off my forehead; and held my hand throughout the rest of the ordeal.     Like always, Atreyu was my rock, and his presence alone was all I needed to push through the pain.  Push… push… and push some more.       That’s what I did for nearly two hours straight, then I heard it.  The sweetest sound on earth.  The cry of a newborn infant.     No amount of pain could stop me from bolting forward and reaching out for my baby.  Right away, he was gently laid on my awaiting hands, and I immediately cradled him against my chest.     The crying stopped within seconds, then my baby snuggled against my bosom, soaking in the warmth and love provided by his one and only mother.  Me.     I could feel both a royal aura and the unmistakable aura of a dark angel surrounding my boy.  Neither of which surprised me in the least.       Wanting to see what attributes he took from me and Atreyu, I studied his cute little face.  Our baby had Atreyu’s shiny black hair and my twinkling amethyst eyes.  He had my pale skin and perfectly arched eyebrows; but he had Atreyu’s full lips and his cleft chin.     “What are we going to name him, angel?” Atreyu asked while I counted each of his tiny fingers and toes.     “Jericho Israel Castello,” I answered, with my mind already set on the name.     “It’s perfect!  I love it!” he gushed with happiness.     “Would you like to hold your son?” I asked, glancing up to see my mate smiling from ear-to-ear.     “Absolutely!” Atreyu responded, wriggling his fingers for emphasis. Atreyu     Genevieve blessed me with the most adorable baby in our kingdom.  He had my mate’s gorgeous eyes, and that brought me more joy than I would have ever expected.     As I hugged my son against my chest, I noticed he took the best combination of our scents.  Cinnamon and vanilla.       After a few short minutes of having Jericho in my arms, the blonde-haired nurse with bright green eyes insisted I let her get him cleaned up.  Reluctantly, I handed him over, then I watched her every moment, making sure she did nothing to upset our baby.     Once she was done wiping him down, the nurse put a little diaper on Jericho, then she got him dressed in the tiniest, cutest little infant gown.  It was light blue, and it had little elephants all over it.     Finally, she carried Jericho back to us and laid him in my mate’s awaiting arms.  Genevieve affectionately nuzzled her nose against his, then Jericho opened his mouth and started moving his head around like he was looking for something specific.     Genevieve giggled at our baby before sweetly asking, “Are you hungry, little guy?”     When he kept moving his head around, Genevieve pulled out her breasts and guided our son to her left n****e.  On instinct, Jericho immediately latched onto her and started suckling the special breastmilk out of his mother.     While our son enjoyed his first meal, Genevieve caressed his rosy cheek and smiled with joy.  There was nothing but love and adoration swirling in her pretty eyes, as she gazed at him, and it was truly a beautiful sight.       It didn’t take the nurses and doctor long to get all of their equipment removed from my chambers, then they left us alone to enjoy our time together.  Not long after they left, Jericho finished nursing, and Genevieve was eager to take him to the nursery.       For a woman who had just given birth, Genevieve was able to get around with little to no problems.  Of course, part of that had to do with the fact that she had wings and didn’t have to actually walk, except to get through the doorways.     That was something I had been meaning to change, but I had been so busy trying to form more alliances, I just hadn’t been able to make the time.  Now that I was confident we had enough allies, I would have more time for those little things I had been putting off.     Once we were in the nursery, Genevieve walked around and pointed out the different things to Jericho.  He was asleep the whole time, but it didn’t deter Genevieve from doing her thing.     After walking around the entire nursery, Genevieve sat down on the wooden rocking chair and rocked our son in her arms.  Meanwhile, I leaned against the doorframe and watched with an ear-to-ear smile of my own, stretching across my face.
