CHAPTER TWO:

Oh, no. He had caught her.. "Are you planning on living down there?" Huh? Abruptly, she stood up, this action making her vibrant red curls bounce on to her face and she hurriedly pushed them behind her ears. "Um…g.. good morning, Mr Blackwood, Sir." She stammered, not being able to meet his piercing gaze. He took a step forward and looked hard at her. His frame towering above her as he looked at her, her red curls removing from it's hold as usual and falling around her shoulders. "How much did you hear?" He asked, his voice low. He watched as she slowly looked up, her bright blue eyes bright beneath her thick lashes. "Um…sir, well.." she began to stammer, regretting standing there. She should have walked on, she shouldn't have listened. "I didn't…I didn't hear anything." She lied, feeling so embarrassed that her grip on the things in her hands became tighter. She looked at him, internally shivering as his black eyes studied her face, knowing that he had caught her lie. She kept looking at his face though, noticing things. Ethan always looked so…. perfect. Olivia felt herself studying his pale but extremely attractive face, his hard and perfect jawline, his deep black hair that was slicked back to his scalp, save for a thick strand of hair that hovered over his face. His whole phisique was… "Olivia!" Her train of thoughts stopped immediately as she snapped back to reality, blinking rapidly she responded, "Sir?" "The files, Olivia. The ones in your hands which I presume are the ones I need for my meeting?" He raised perfect eyebrows at her, his hands already tucked in the pockets of his pants. "Uh, yes, yes it is." Olivia nodded rapidly, her curls bouncing about her head. "I said take them to my office." Ethan said in a tone that meant, he had said this before but she was obviously distracted then. He sighed, before walking away towards the elevator, "I wonder where you head is" Olivia sighed as she took a deep breath and followed him. It was getting harder to control her feelings and hide her attraction. Her boss, Ethan Blackwood was every woman's fantasy man. He looked like he jumped out a fantasy novel! He was tall and had a perfectly toned body, chiseled jaw, perfect black hair and….goodness, he was handsome! She couldn't count the number of women who feel this way and the number of women who had thrown themselves at him. Olivia stepped into the elevator with him, trying not to feel awkward about what happened earlier. She stole a glance at Ethan and ofcourse, saw the indifferent look on his face. Perhaps she was the only one overthinking. "Let me take a look at those files." Ethan said with an outstretched hand and she put in his hands. Catching her breath as her fingers brushed past his own. Heavens…she could control herself. She began to tap her fingers on the sides of her skirt, trying to hide her nervousness and awkwardness. "What is it, Olivia?" Ethan suddenly asked in a low and seemingly uninterested tone. "Uh..um.. nothing, Mr Ethan." She smiled sheepishly. "Obviously it's not nothing, from the way you're acting." Olivia took a deep breath, determined to stop her nervousness. "I really like your suit today, sir. It looks very sharp." Ethan looked from the files he was reading and raised an eyebrow at her. He looked at her for a while before responding, "Thanks," he said with a small nod. Olivia had said the first thing in her head, because she was sure he would ask about or talked about what had happened in the parking lot and she wouldn't be able to not die of embarrassment this time. She just wanted the whole issue to go away. She didn't hear nothing and didn't see nothing. She took a deep breath and looked at Ethan from the side, goodness… She felt herself fall into a daze as she kept staring and imagining… The elevator stopped at another floor and they both got out. Olivia felt her opportunity slipping away. She knew she would have to act fast if she wanted to say anything else to him, a chance to confess her feelings for him. "Sir, I was wondering if you had any plans for lunch today," she blurted out. Ethan finally looked up at her, his expression unreadable. "No, I don't have anything planned. Why do you ask?" Olivia's heart skipped a beat. This was her chance. "I was hoping we could grab lunch together. There's a great new restaurant I've been wanting to try." Ethan seemed to consider her offer for a moment before finally nodding with a smile. "Alright, that sounds fine." Olivia couldn't believe it. She had actually managed to convince him to have lunch with her. He took a step towards her, "I've always wanted to have lunch with you, Olivia. I've always thought you're so…so…" he kept walking closer. "So what?" She asked dreamily and almost immediately felt a flick on her forehead. "So distracted!" "Huh?" She blinked rapidly, her hands going to massage the flicking pain on her forehead. She looked up to see Ethan staring at her with a frown. Oh, no. Had she been…daydreaming? Again?? "I have been talking for the past five minutes, and you're just looking at me like I'm speaking some strange language." Ethan said with a deep sigh. Olivia…this girl… She felt her cheeks go read again from the embarrassment. Heavens…all that was just a day dream? This was so embarrassing! "Did you even realize we're out of the elevator?" He asked and she looked around almost immediately. Huh? How and when did they step out? Jeez… Olivia, snap out of it! She cautioned herself internally. "Um…sir..I—" "Olivia." Ethan interrupted as he massaged his temples, "If your busy mind is occupied by what happened in the parking lot and if you're thinking I'm upset by you eavesdropping—" "I wasn't eavesdropping, Sir! I was just passing by, I promise and then—" "I don't need an explanation and don't interrupt me again." "Sorry," she said, "but you interrupted me too." She muttered. "What was that?" "Hm? Nothing, Sir." Ethan looked her over, his black eyes staring at her blue ones. "Hmm." He responded, "Just forget about what you might have seen or heard in the parking lot, it's not your business for you to worry about it. Are we clear?" Olivia nodded instantly and Ethan turned in the opposite direction and walked away. Leaving Olivia to try to collect herself before running to her tiny office.
