Chapter Four

888 Words
Kaitlyn's Point of View: We are currently sitting in the cinema watching 'Hotel Transylvania', the boys wanted to watch Ted 2 but when Claire puts her foot down no one and I mean no one denies her. I am sitting beside Kyle while Claire and Jake are in the seats in front of us. I watch as Claire laughs at something Jake says. They look so cute together. The way they look at each other all lovey-dovey like it brings back memories. Memories that I much rather forget. I can't help but remember the happy memories I had with Ryan and how I thought he loved me. Oh, what a fool I was to not notice what was right in front of my eyes. To say I was shocked would be a lie, I could never forget the way I say him look at my sister, the way his eyes always lingered on her and that charming smile he seemed to have reserved only for her. I didn't think my only sister would betray me but I was wrong. Kyle suddenly laughs startling me out of my trance. He has this huge grin on his face. I can't help but wonder what my life will be like if I let myself love again. Kyle turns towards me and just as quick the grin falls off his face. I didn't realize tears are running down my face until he uses his thumb to slowly wipe away my tears from my face. "Do you want to talk about it?” he asks in a gentle voice "No," I say my voice cracking He has a painful expression on his face. He shifts in his seat pulling me to him allowing me to rest my head on his shoulder. I can't deny the smile that makes its way on my face. It’s really nice of him to try to comfort me. I snuggle closer to him whispering a thank you. "Anytime," he smiles at me. Maybe I should give him a chance. Kyle's POV: We left the cinema for about half an hour ago. Claire decided that she wanted to eat some Napoleon ice cream which apparently is her favorite. I am going to object but with the glares, Kaitlyn and Jake are sending me, I quickly change my mind. So here we are now eating ice cream at ten in the night. I don't get why we are doing this so I turn to Kaitlyn and ask her. "Why would you agree to eat ice cream at a time like this?" I ask her. She doesn't answer she instead glances over at Claire who is busy talking to Jake. As soon as she realizes that Claire isn't paying any attention, she hits me upside the head. "Ow! what the hell was that..." "Shush don't you ever let Claire hear you say something against her ice cream," she cuts me off. "What? Why?" I ask. "It’s simple," she replies in a sing-song voice "she loves her ice cream and if you say anything bad about it, she'll hurt you" "You know you have a very beautiful voice, it’s no wonder you sing so well" "Thanks," she says blushing slightly. I can't help the grin that comes on my face. I love that I can make her blush. I promised myself that I would wait for her but I can't. I have to make her mine. "Kaitlyn" She turns to face me her face was so angelic I can't resist. I gently caress her face. I smile when she leans into my touch and closes her eyes. "He hurt you badly...didn't he?” I ask her. She snaps her eyes open to look at me in shock. She looks at me with an almost scary expression on her eyes. "What are you talking about?" she asks trying to play it cool. "You know what I'm talking about," I give her a pointed look. She looks all around and then finally looks back up at me a vulnerable look in her eyes. It breaks my heart to see her like this. She nods answering my previous question. I sigh my eyes soaking up her appearance. "Kaitlyn, I know we haven't known each other long enough but I like you, I like you a lot. I hope you will bestow upon me the honor of being your boyfriend?" She opens her eyes staring into mine and I become afraid for a moment that she will say no because she pulls away from me. Instead, she leans in close to whisper in my ear. “I don’t think that’s such a good idea?” “Why not?” I whispered totally affected by her closeness. “We don’t know each other well enough to be a couple” “Well,” he paused to compose himself “we can learn about each other in the meantime and that’s really what a relationship is all about, we have a connection, one that I think we should explore” She stepped away from me to look me directly in the eyes, as if in deep in thought. After a minute she smiled and replied, “Okay, I’ll be your girlfriend”
