7 “Hold up a minute,” I said to my new partner before he climbed in the car. “Yeah?” he said, clearly low on patience. “We’re not taking him to the station.” “Are you kidding me? Why the f**k not?” “Because he’s a kid.” Masterson shrugged. “And?” “He deserves a second chance.” “He deserves to go to jail. His mom will bail him out and he’ll be home soon.” “His mom doesn’t have the money to bail him out.” Masterson huffed and shook his head. “So, we just let him go?
