Mia’s POV Damien’s arms remained locked around me like steel bands. The secure room felt smaller with every second, the air thick with unspoken accusations and the weight of my growing belly. I wanted to pull away, but his warmth and the steady beat of his heart made me hesitate. “I need air,” I whispered, voice barely audible. He didn’t release me immediately. Instead, he tilted my chin up, forcing me to meet his eyes. “You don’t trust me yet. I see it. But running won’t save you, Mia. It will only get you killed.” The words sent a chill down my spine.
